    Hey guys, first post here..

We’re doing a push through illuminated tray customer wants orange lettering.

Ones we have done previously have remained opal or not push through colour.

How would you go about it?

Cover letters with vinyl or layer with orange acrylic?

    Thanks

A high LT opal with a quality translucent orange. 3M do a good range (Wm Smith) get a swatch book to check what it actually looks like with light behind it.

Generally struggle to get coloured translucent acrylics over 3mm (sometimes 5mm) so I’d go with vinyl too, look to use warmer / yellower LEDs, preserves the colour better on yellows / oranges, otherwise they can look a little washed out.

We did an illuminated sign the day before lockdown using a Translucent teal vinyl.
see pics below, they appear a sort of blue in the picture but does appear as teal in the flesh, so to speak.
I would take this route any day, over having to buy a sheet or half sheet of teal acrylic. only for the offcuts to sit in the rack for months on end waiting on someone wanting a sign that colour. Of course, if someone is willing to pay for the coloured acrylic and are maybe specify this, then that’s different.
