  • Projecting sign, how do you fix them?

Posted by Mark Johnston on September 1, 2021 at 11:35 am

Looking for some advice. I have not fitted many of these types of signs but i have always found them awkward and i am never confident i have fitted them in the strongest way possible.
i think it is just the fact they are projecting out from the wall and exposed to the wind makes me feel uneasy. does anyone have any tips or tricks on the best way to fit these and the type of screws or plugs to fix them?

I use only thunderbolt concrete screws. you can get different styles and lengths etc.

As Rob, I normally use 100mm thunderbolts and a 10mm masonry bit

Drill hole, blow the dust out and use socket and ratchet to do up, easy and very secure fix

As the chaps have said, Thunderbolts all the way. If they ever let go, the roof & the windows won’t be far behind them

just be sure to use the correct masonry drill bit size for the hole and don’t over widen it as you drill because the threads of the crews are relying on a snug fit to cut its threads into the walls of the hole. hope that makes sense.
