    Hi all,
Need some help, i have today received this artwork on a disc (huge file so i have shrunk it down to display it here) I need to print it with my edge1. Firstly i need to get rid of the black that surrounds the image and then print it can anyone recommend the best way to do this in Signlab also some help or recommendations as to print settings would be appreciated.
Would it be worth having it vectorised first?

    Best rgds

    HI

You can bring ti into Paint and edit it there..

Cut around the edges copy and paste back into your printing software

    Dave,

Not sure about others, but this would be my approach using version 7:

    • Import image
    • Double left click image to enter Bitmap editing mode/smart bar
    • Left click Magic Wand tool
    • Right click on the black background area of image
    • Left click the Invert Selection icon
    • Left click Clip Region icon
    • Done

As to what settings, that depends on what foils being used, overall output size, image size, etc. Providing that the data files contains enough information, and looking at the color composition of the image, I might start out with a Halftone setting of ~70 to 75 LPI using either an Ellipse to Diamond or Euclidean Small Ellipse to define the shape of the dot (change this in the Halftone Palette). From a print mode standpoint, if using Gerber foils, Gerber CMYK Photo 300 or even an attempt at Gerber Hex Photo 300 (not sure if the spot Orange would help with this image or not in a Hexachrome mode)

There are 2 easy was to get rid of the background
    1. contour cut the bmap when you click apply set the slider to black(you may need to do it a couple of times to get the setting right)
    2. just draw a circle slightly smaller than the image make it the colour of your vinyl or clear colour then lay it on top of the image and apply clipping

Hi Dave, had a little problem like this my self just last week.

All i did was import the bitmap as per the usual an then put a cutline around the very edge of the design, let it print as per then cut the black away..JD ( job done )
you are printing process anyway, your using all 4 foils and there will be no wasted vinyl or foil!!!!

p.s mine is an edge 2but that would make no difference, i wouldn’t have thought!
