Can you email me one of the problem files and I’ll have a look at it for you, I have a few minutes spare ( putting off doing my books till tomorrow ) 😀

Try opening as Postscript Interpreted rather than Encapsulated Postscript.

Hi, first off, what version are you using?

Corel 11 cannot open the latest Illustrator files
Corel 12 does open Illustrator CS files
Importing with Postscript Interpreted and Adobe Illustrator AI is the best ways, however the new Adobe Illustrator can use PDF format as a native format. To test, do this:-

Rename your file from File.ai to File.PDF
Double click and open in Adobe Acrobat Reader/Pro
If you see the item and have Acrobat Pro, then save as EPS/Postscript
    Then Import into Corel
