    Hi there.

Does anyone know what is wrong with the printer. I’m using Summa DC2 printer and there is a porblem with the printing. When printing i get some lines all accross the print. The lines follow the directon that the printhead is going. I’ve attached a phone and made arrows to point out whats wrong. I’ve also made some changes to the photo, hue/saturation and level change so the lines will be more visible. This is not the worst case on this pthoto. When printing some nice pictures that are going to be viewed up close makes the problem much bigger. Is this some adjustment in the printer because the manual that came with the printer is not very satisfying and not many solutions to be found there 🙂

Look close and see the white lines that the printer doesnt fill up into. Like hes is feeding the vinyl too much or something.. Anyway im clueless and i really need help to fix this problem

    Many thanks!

If the lines are the same distance apart – most likely you blown the print head. The photo link seems to hbe invalid

Oops , the photo DOEs work , it could also be a feed calibration problem, on the Roland printers you can adjust the feed to compensate for dark or light bandng , perhaps you can too – it might be related to that?

    Hi
Your problem is to adjust Media Feed
If the lines look LIGHT – perhaps close up the feed
I lines are DARK – open up maybe 3 points
I’m told the idea is to adjust on the ‘fly’ – whilst the machine is printing to remove the lines by adjustment.
Look in the manual – Medai Feed Adjust

I print the feed alignment test and adjust the feed by looking at that. Its like it doesnt matter what i do, i dont get rid of the lines!!!

Has the printer always produced these lines or is this something that has recently started to happen?

My experience with thermal transfer printers is limited to the Roland Colorcamm. This machine is prone to showing a similar effect especially when printing solid (spot colour) and is an unfortunate feature of the machine. The good news is that it can be almost completely eliminated by overlaminating the print with a clear vinyl, or by spraying with clear frog juice.

I suggest you contact the manufacturers to find out what they are saying about this.

    Hi Zeolite
Did you email Jim Henchen in USA?
He is a very experienced user who knows the DC1 backwards.
