  • Problem with Acrylic Prints.

    Posted by Stephen Murray1 on March 19, 2010 at 11:32 am

    Hi All,

    Last night i finished 4 Acrylic Prints. 2500 x 1000mm. I reverse printed on to clear and then wet mounted on to the panel, with the white vinyl backing being wet mounted after.

    When i came in this morning there is a milky residue around most of the edges. I’ve seen it before in the prints that i’ve done and know that it does fade away in a couple of days. It just looks worse on these ones as the graphic is predominately black. What i want to know is;

    a, What causes it ?. Is it that the glue has not dried. Have i used too much washing up liquid in the application spray( just a little squirt).

    b, Is there anything i can do to speed up the removal of it?

    c, Is there anything i can do it the future to stop it happening at all ?

    Your help would be much appreciated as they are going up in a exhibition on Monday.

    Cheers

    Steve

    I believe it’ll settle out in a few days/weeks. We use rapid tac II when we do glass mounts, or try and get a solvent adhesive vinyl I think this stops it happening

    Hi Andy,
    I just hope it’s days rather than weeks. !!

    Whats the best place to buy Rapid Tac II in the UK. Just watched you tube videos. Looks an interesting product.

    You’ll only get it from all print supplies, make sure you get rapid tac 2 though – its reformulated and better than the original.

    O.K searched further in to past posts and found many threads with the same problem. Perhaps should of done that in the first place. 😳

    Going to try and leave the panels out overnight with the heating on and see if it will help a little in removing the milky marks.

    Cheers
