Printing Rollups – No Lamination
Does anyone print rollups without lamination? I have a 100 rollup order and I want to try and print it on a special paper that doesn’t need lamination (syntethic). Which one do you use? Does it look good?

i dont print onto paper for roll-ups. i use a grey backed polyester film.
in all the years we have printed roll-ups i have never laminated them and never had a single problem.that said, i know many do laminate…

Same as Robert, we never laminate. Rollups are relatively cheap here and wouldn’t justify laminating. Never had a problem either. Only tip, I always give them a strong 24 hours to fully cure, less chance of damage when fitting into device

Do you know how thick is the material (micron?) you use?
Don’t the edges (sides) of the material roll outside when the rollup is open?

Metamark do a material that has a satin finish that doesn’t need laminating but looks like its laminated. Found this out just after buying a roll from Hexis 🙄 not that I laminate them anyway. 😳

i use layflat banner material.. love it

depends on what the customer wants to pay for, some want lamination and some don’t, I think the finished product looks brilliant with anti-scuff on them, totally protects and gives a nice finish without any finger prints on them 😀

i had this argument at work not long back… i think it is completely daft to laminate a roller banner that is going to spend it’s life mainly curled up, when u unwind it after say storage for weeeks, i think you have more hassle with it.
I correct myself… its called "SoFlat" banner material… is lovely and really is good in roll up cassettes and curl is slightly there.

I’ll definitely buy a roll to try it out. Normaly we use 130gsm paper with 2 side 75 micron lamination for our rollups, however i tend to simplify this process and try the soflat material you’ve all recommended.

We use a textured material from Papergraphics which doesn’t need laminating and comes on a 50metre roll instead of the usual 30m called
SV-TRU220 – grey backed textured roll-up banner film 220mic
It only csots £125 – 68p per roll of 914mm x 50m. It give a really good finish and you can bareley tell that the finished item isn’t laminated -

We leave about 1 hour Chris but have finished printing and put in the cassette straight away with no problems
