Is it possible to print on a poster type substrate? I was going to print on vinyl and then stick it to some very thin foamex/perspex to be velcro’d to a display board but I was wondering if I could print direct onto a thin plastic – something as thick as a laminating pouch?

    Thanks

What machine are you printing on?

Some solvent inkjets may be able to print to thin PVC (something like 220mic Staufen). I’ve tried a JV3 with no luck, but suspect the ColourPainter may be better – just haven’t had time to try it! 😕

Alternatively how about a thick paper? Robert Horne do 200gsm satin paper for solvent which is what we use.

    Cheers

I would be printing it using a Cadet. Has anybody had any experience printing onto thin PVC and know where I might be able to get some from?

    Thanks

don’t risk damaging your heads as this would be expensive and not uder the warranty.

on the grenadier we can raise the head height assume it is the same on the cadet. you probably know this already.

my advice though is to make sure to feed through plenty of media to make sure the pvc does not rise and jam your head as it passes or scuffs and damages as it passes.

I have worked with staufen a bit and would suggest you roll the medi quite tightly prior to printing about an hour min even overnight. I would the insert it so the media wants to curve inward away from the heads should also help to keep it flat when printing.

    cheers
