printing onto correx ?
Hi all is it possible to print directly onto correx using a printer or is it screen print only ?

Yes it is, we do it day to day, as with various other sub staights.

what kind of printers are up to the job, would a summa d60 print onto correx and digital banner etc ?

As far as I know the Summa d60 is a vinyl cutter.
It cannot print on anything….
Correx is usually used for high volume signage. Screenprinting works a treat, with the correct inks.
We get good results from "corroplast" inks.

its not a problem to print direct to correx.
but you need a flatbed printer, or a hibrid roll to roll printer.probably 30k is a starting price

Print directly to correx, Screen Printing or UV printing will do it.
if you are cutting vinyl in a summa, then yes, the vinyl will stick to correx, but its not a printer as has been mentioned.

there’s more to it than just print time though… but are slow.
i forget the name of the machine i looked at and don’t want to randomly pick one i think it is in case its not. but i remember one by spandex was pretty naff and cost about £30k, but i believe its newer replacement is very good.
we opted for one around £70k i think you have to come into the UV market around that price tag to get one worthwhile… that said, even ours turned out to be unreliable and we reverted back to solvent printing and bought a Roland A740 and a rollsroller for mounting. combined they cost less than the UV printer and both are proven technology. -
Gerber Solara was spandexs I believe and the is also a secondhand one for sale in signtrade for 13k from alupanel who used it to print their exhibition stands so has’nt had alot off use

Hi Guys,
Akyprint is indeed PP but rather than fluted its flat sheets laminated either side of circular bubbles , makes it very strong, its a little one sided and more expensive than fluted but interesting all the same, we sold it for a while.
New second generation UV inks do seem to work, was at a Vutek demo with a colleugue who was determined to scratch a newly printed fluted panel, he had to resort to a key to prove his point LOL, we watched it being printed at 70m2 pr hour and tried to scratch it straight away!!Cheers
