  • printing on to window cling with a pc60?

    Hiya everyone,

I’ve tried printing on to clear window cling a couple of times using my PC 60, but can’t seem to get the colours deep enough to be truly visible. Does anyone have a solution please?

thats the only problem printing on clear is that the colours do not come out very deep.

Found this link which might help:

I do not have a PC 60, but I do have an Edge, I assume that the print is translucent when you print, so may be you need to print white under the colour to make it stand out, or just flood fill the back.

Hope that makes sense to you.

Thanks for the link Carrie, and both of you for your replies.

One more question, then I’ll shut up!

If applying vinyl to cling, does the cling still……cling?! 😮

(I wondered if the weight was a factor)

The problem you may get is the two vinyls will not expand and contract the same way, so it may curl it all up!

I’ve applied vinyl to window cling and it still clings. I’ve also printed onto window cling with a PC600. The colours are weak because of the absence of white.

I would apply a strip of white vinyl aver the back of the print. This will ensure the image is vibrant in colour and the film will still cling to glass if the printing and film are on the side not making contact with the glass.

this happens to me also 😕 ….try leaving a clear border all the way round, it may help. i still dont like doing it with a vinyl backing….but with most folk on the boards it works for them 😀

We get our white print ribbons for our PC600 from Printone. So yes you can print white 😀

Dave, I use spandex for the edge materials, they probably have the largest range, including cling, label stock and reflective, also magnetic and floorminders.

Thanks Peter, I have contacted them but they are a little slow in coming up with the goods, you would think they would jump at the chance of a new Edge customer.

Magnetic? you mean to go through the edge?

Dave, I must admit that recently they have not been as good as they have been.
We used to get fantastic service, so good that if an order did not arrive by noon, they would send it again from bristol to us in Luton by special courier.
Staff changes seem to have caused them some problems though.
Yes you can get sprocketed magnetic from them to go through the edge, expensive and I have not used it for that reason, so apart from a printed sample that I have, dont know if its that good.

The edge is actually a very versatile bit of kit, just a matter of finding a niche for its ability.

hi Dave, Peter has answered your question for me I get it from spandex, just looking at the stuff that the PaperCo do, got a sample of black to print with and it seems very good, prints fine on to 751 C and 651 also.

Will try more as I go.

Spandex I think just seems to have an air of apathy about them, we asked for a quote for a complete vehicle wrap system including laminator, a new envision plotter for our edge 2 and software upgrades for Omega, probably somewhere in the region of £30000 of equipment, after 2 weeks still no quote. After emails and phone calls they managed to get a price for a part of what we wanted but they are obviously just not interested in supplying us, this is now 6 weeks later. Still we have now purchased a new versacamm.
Window materials we will print onto clear vinyl then overprint with white or back up with white and have had no problems as of yet.
Most of our other materials come from the paperco,
Magnetic – print onto white vinyl then apply to magnetic – means you can use mag from any supplier at a much cheaper price
Same with photoluminescent print onto clear then apply
Oracal range of vinyls print consistently very good with the edge
We also use signfoil refills also consistently good

I use the printone spot colours on clear static cling. The colours are more opaque. This is using a PC60.
