  • Printing from coreldraw: document size vs. media size

    Hello again everyone,

I’m starting to feel bad that I never have anything to contribute and that I only ever appear with questions!

After endless problems with illustrator cs2 stopping short on prints (HP T610 24" – See this link: https://www.uksignboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=48763&highlight=), I’m now giving Corel x3 a go…

This graphic is 1800mm long, there’s 2 of them and they fit nicely within the 610mm of the roll…

after selecting the printer, telling it to print on the roll at 2000mm x 610 on the roll, it started printing halfway down the graphic like this:

I think I’ve spotted the problem here in the printer set up dialogue:

It clearly states the paper size in the drop down box, but for some reason above it has constrained the document size to 610x950mm….

This is also evident when I select ‘print preview’ like so:

can anyone tell me how to change this 950mm ‘fixed’ document size which corel has selected for me?

    Thanks in advance! Paul w

    edit: I am a dunce

it appears as though the material size has been entered incorrectly on the 610 x 2000mm at some point.. Sorry!

Now that I’ve sorted that, the LCD on the printer is showing "Preparing to print"

    then "printing job09"

    then "finishing print"

    then "checking printer"

and then returning to the "Ready" screen – all this while it’s standing there silently doing nothing.

To think I was actually planning on doing some work today after being out of the office for the past 2 weeks…

Have you set your paper sizes in the printer properties?

    yeah that’s this one:

the paper size is set up correct in the printer options dialogue, I’m telling corel the size of the artwork and it’s all scaled accordingly so I can’t work it out

    Hi

Cant really help too much as I dont print direct from corel, but do you only have the one printer on the system? I have a few linked to mine and have on occasions moved the scroll on the mouse and selected a print to file option or something like that!

    Might be worth a look.

    Regards

I’m not familiar with this printer but is there any chance the printer itself is over-riding the software settings somehow?

Ha the printer got a menu where you can set the page size and such like?

    For windows 7:
    Click Start.
    Click Devices and Printers.
    Click on your Printer.
    Click on Printer server properties.
Click on Create new a form.
Type in your new dimensions. Save form.

When you go into HP document properties, the new paper size will be listed in the document size menu.

Pretty much the same for XP.

    Hope this helps.

after setting the page size in the driver as you select the printer.

double click the page boarder on the screen.
from the dialog use set page from printer, his sets the corel page size and double checks you have the sizes matched.

corel does get confused with page size and printer page if altered twice.
so i close the file and reopen it then set the new page.
