• printing clean edges?

Posted by Fred Caffrey on August 13, 2005 at 12:09 pm

Can anyone tell me how to get clean edges on text or vector images when printing. I’m getting a faint spray of ink either side of what should be a clean line. I’m running a Cadet on citrosol inks with S22 Grafityp vinyl and tried all the usual cleaning, changed every setting up and down, used Signlab and Colour Rip, tried different profiles and get the same result. I only noticed it last week when printing some small pictogram type images and think it’s a new problem. Any feedback will be appreciated. Thanks.

    Cheers

    hi

do a test print from the printer controls and look at the small bars they should be clean with no spitting – misplaced – or missing. i have what sound like your problem at the moment – which i will have to replace the black head but my machine a soljet ex is 2.5 years old but similar mechanics. if still under warranty speak to your supplier

how close is your head to the print. If it is on the high setting, this can be an exaggerated problem due to dirty heads. Have you cleaned them manually with a swab, not just relying on the automatic head clean?

I had a similar problem to this and it was a blockage in the heads. Technician came out and found that my waste lines were blocked and one of my pumps had a crack in the lines that was causing air to get in.

May be worth a tech to visit.

Thanks for the replies guys, I’ve done the test print Chris and it looks OK, Shane I don’t know about head heights but think it’s fixed on the Cadet and not adjustable, I’ve tried a manual clean as well as the normal clean from the control panel. I’m still under warranty so call in the man I think. Thanks for your help.
