Hp, roland, mimaki, mutoh are the main players. You have many questions to think about, latex or solvent, size, size of laminator etc etc.
Personally i have a Mutoh vj. I believe this to be a relatively simple setup, less bells and whistles than other brands which was good for as a relatively newbie to printing.Plenty of options available, sure others will give plenty more info. I think its more about your budget and what comes up really.

thanks martyn like i said im lost in this dept im thinking solvent would be adequate for my needs ..bigger the better as they say… looking long term as in 2 years time i dont want to be saying to myself "if only"
budget ..ive a decent budget i know i wont buy nothing for 2k but i dont want to be spending 20k either
thanks for your advice -
We run a Roland VS 540 and mounter mate here. Quite happy with our system. Can turn out a few 100 meters across various vinyls etc.. a week and can cut any width to pretty much. Suits our small operation fine

thanks for your adviceOk well with a healthy budget for a secondhand machine i would be looking at the main suppliers for a part x that has come in. Then you should hope its got some history and been looked after.I think buying something blind off an auction site is always going to give you some headaches. I got my machine by asking my vinyl supplier (they also sell new printers) and put me in contact with one of their customers that had just purchased a new setup from them. They had sold him my printer originally and maintained it over the years so it was win win for everyone.
If that fails then i would hit the auction site hoping to find a true honist seller (if any exist anymore)

Are you looking for a print and cut machine or a separate printer and cutter?
Print and cut combined is great if you’re tight on space but you can only cut whilst printing or print whilst cutting. Roland do the VS/VSi which are belting machines, TruVis I’ve not heard great things about. Mimaki do the CJV which pretty good too.
Separate printer and cutter you have more options but take up space of course. Mimaki do the JV printers and CG-FX cutter which are fantastic and would be my choice, but you also have Epson, HP, Mutoh, Ricoh, Oki…. and then Roland, Mutoh, Graphtec, Summa cutters.
Work out your budget, width and preference of combined or separate machines and ring all the dealers and let them battle for you custom.
Good luck.

I’ve only ever had HP Latex and swear by it so its only right this is what I would recommend to any small or large shop looking to turn around stuff quickly.
If you do decide to go HP Latex then don’t buy now, for the last two years they have had massive sales Jan / Feb when you can save a few K depending on model and they are HP Sales not dealer offers so where ever you shop you should get the same offer give or take a couple £
