    Morning All

I’ve to quote for a Wallpaper job but as you are no doubt aware its a bit of a mine field when you start searching. Its 1 wall, 3600 x 2420, Can anyone offer any recommendations please, not done this before, could I get away with a vinyl and use a matte laminate? are there any do’s and dont’s I should be aware of like having to seal the wall prior to application.

    Any advice/info greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

    Bob

Hi Bob, best supplier for this is Paper Graphics, they supply DigiMura wallpaper printable. http://paper-graphics.com/

Speak to a guy called Dan Spence, tell him you came via Mo from P&P Signs, he should be able to help. It’s good stuff I have done plenty of wall with it. It goes up with normal wallpaper paste, but they do recommend thier own of course.

Any problems give me a shout, they will probably need you to buy a whole roll though. Also Hexis do a printable wallpaper, but I have never used it, however I use a lot of heis products and they have all been really good so far.

    I hope this helps

    Hi,

    I second the PaperGraphics recommendation.

We’ve used the Muramour Range (for our Latex printer) quite a lot and it works really well. We’ve used the Lisse (smooth) and Sable (textured) and both have given ideal results (the Sable probably more so).

The best stuff we had was the dTec range from Paperlinx, which I believe CMYUK now stock, but in limited capacity so you could always try them as well.

Let me know how you get on as I’m always intrigued how other people get on with the products I use!

    Regards,

    Pete.

Mo, Peter Thanks for the replies, Mo do you paste the wall and then hang? I’ve never hung wallpaper (wrapped 8 metre portacabins though) and the thought of pasting paper or a wall in order to hang sounds a lot of bother.

My other concern is the joins, is a small overlap acceptable or has it got to be edge to edge?

I was leaning towards self adhesive or is this a no no?

I had a sample of coala stuff(self adhesive) from Antalis and have to say the finish is really nice.

Anything I should be carefull of wall types, paint finishes etc?

Thanks again lads for taking the time to reply

I paste the wall and hang, but can be done either way. I also make but joins on mine, but I have a very straight 3.5 trimmer that makes perfect joins for me.

When i produce for a customer fit, I do a 10mm each way overlap and let them trim when in place, they can leave the overlap or a good wallpaper fitter will be able to use a roller trimmer to get a perfect join without the overlap when up.

With Big Mo on this one.

Love the range from Papergraphics – We always print on this stuff and recently started putting it through our UV machine, our client wanted to ability to be able to give it a wash now and again as it was going into a bar.

Prints very well and fit easily too.

Yes Papergraphics Digimura prints great on my latex, i found the 225gsm a bit heavy to hang but it does cover up any imperfections on the wall…….

One thing I haven’t seen mentioned is the preparation.
I hang a lot of wallpapers in varying grades, but doesn’t matter how good the wallpaper is, if the preparation is wrong, then the wallpaper will over time look like a car crash.
Make sure the wall you are applying to is sound, with no flaking or loose paint.
Always seal the wall, either with a thinned coat of PVA, or my preferred coating is Bullseye 1-2-3 by Zinsser. It’s a water based sealer, perfect for this type of install and quick drying. http://www.zinsseruk.com/product/bulls-eye-1-2-3/
As for joints, butt joints and overlaps are fine, your client will express a preference. I overlap and splice my joints as it gives a "Seamless" finish.
Newmor ( Formally Dixon Turner) based in Powys supply all manner of wallcoverings. Might be worth speaking to one of their team for recommendations.
Another covering to consider is Ahlstrom Easylife – BR9708D it’s an amazing covering, doesn’t even need paste, and finish is superb.

If you need any help, gimme a shout. Good luck :thumbup2:

I did a wall photo for The Wordsworth Museum and used Redcliffe imaging Ltd, http://www.redcliffe.co.uk

i used the Phototex self adhesive and repositionable which was bit more expensive but it was super easy to install so cleaner & quicker than using a wet adhesive.
It was 6480mm w x 1020mm and was printed in 3 drops of about 2200mm wide. On their advise we had no over lap and bleed with the edges matching exactly. Not sure if it was just luck but the edges matched spot on just butted together and was easier to install than expected.
If client will pay the extra then worthwhile in my opinion.
