Printable reflective vinyl
Afternoon everyone
I deal with reflective graphics for chevrons but that’s a s far as I go. I’ve now been allowed to put up a sign on a main road and thought I would make it reflective as it’s a perfect hight for headlights.
The signs about 1m x 1m and I intend to flood coat it with a gradient background and my logo. I think Oracal 5400 is printable (I might need someone to confirm that?) but how does it work with a full coverage print?
Is 5400 a good vinyl to print on? What would you use?

I print on oracal 5400 a lot, using an HP Latex.
It’s a great vinyl to print to as far as latex goes.
We also use the grade above it, which does the same job but has a ghost emblem on the face to show that it conforms to certain standards, but that’s irrelevant in this case. I am just mentioning it so you don’t get that one as it costs a fair bit more.we don’t treat it any different to printing digital. just print and laminate as normal.
however, it is 49inches wide, I think. so you will need to account for that when laminating.
obviously, your ink is transparent so the print will illuminate along with the background colour. -
Oracal Oralite 5400, as Rob says, I print on lots of this.
Be cautious with laminates, I don’t know why but, regular mono laminate, that is used on hundreds of generic signs a year, with no complaint, just doesn’t like printed reflective, always use a decent poly or cast laminate.
Oralite 5600 is no better. I think it’s meant to be more removable but, that’s BS!!
