Oracal here sell a banner material called 440G. It does photo quality prints on a glossy finish. Brilliant. Not sure if it is an oracal product, but I’ll check when I get to work if you like.

It is a VIZION 440gsm High Gloss White Banner product. They have two versions, one for eco sol printers, and one for true solvent printers. Not sure what the difference is as I use the eco sol version on my true solvent printer. Not buy choice, although it is cheaper, but it is what I was sent when I asked them for a good quality banner material at a reasonable price.

Hope that helps mate. I have printed 2 x 1.2m x 8m and 6 x 1.2m x 2m full colour banners last week and the results were very very good.

    Cheers

I don’t usually. If their are concerns for a long term life, I do have a liquid laminate I apply and cure under a UV light.

    Not that often tho.

tony, we have ordered some of the low solvent banner material from grafityp, should come in the morning, just in time for our new printer to be commisioned, i can try it out under the supervision of the install guy.

I have been told by grafityp that these banners are ok for external use without lamination for 2-3 years, but we have also ordered some of the grafijuice liquid laminate, so we’ll probably try that as well.

cammy, we sent it back, whatever it was, collected same day, they are good that way.

We bought it from grafityp instead, got it this morning, just waiting for an image from a customer and then we can print our first ever banner with our new verscamm.

Just stumbled accross this thread with interest………

I’m going to do a promotional banner for myself. is it a big job printing on banners or is it the same as printing on vinyl?

do you need to change anything setting wise?

    I use a cadet

    thanks

hiya stuart, i have only just got our versasamm and are a complete beginner to the printing game so i don’t profess to know a lot.

However, yesterday we had a days training with a roland man, very informative.

Today i printed 2 banners, piece of cake, excellent quality, as youd expect, you just need to ensure that the profile is set for pvc banner or to the manufacturers spec within the rip, now theres a new one on me “RIP”.

Check out the 550 from Hexis.
It’s good on price and if you just alter the Generic PVC1 (i think) you get very good results. It’s a matt finish and the banner is pure white, a lot of banners have an off-white look to them that l don’t like at all. It comes in 30metres for about £70 if i’m correct. I use it on my versacamm when l get the banner work in.
