  • Print – Laminate – Cutt – Best laminate to use?

Does anyone know of a good gloss laminate that is suitable for using when its a print and cut job.

We use mactac LF3899/LF3898 which comes in gloss and matt, when we laminate with matt we have no problems with the weeding. The machine cuts it out perfectly at a reasonable blade depth. However we have big problems when using the gloss. The material seems to be different in its make up, it harder and more rigid compared to the softer feel of the matt.

Anyone else have an issue or can anyone recommend a good gloss for print & cut?

Can’t help you with your problem but we have no issues with Metamark MD5 when print, laminating and cutting.

    Cheers

Check the blade depth and the amount of pressure. I can cut 500micron ( print and laminate) in one pass on my Cadet with no issues.

The trouble i have is this.

Matt laminate with a new blade is set at max to 120 on the Roland.
Gloss laminate needs to go 130, with this it struggles to make a clean cutt.
I up it to 150 – 160 and it goes straight through it all and rips it up. 🙁
