    Hi folks,

I’m hoping someone can help with a problem I have with banner print not drying properly. I printed a banner yesterday and today while taping up (banner face down on clean smooth workbench) I noticed when it was turned right side up that the inks had scratched (scuffed) and is now unusable. I’m using the manufacturers heat profile fror the banner material and am wondering, now that the general building temperature has dropped, if I should be increasing the print/dry temps on my Sp300 and if so what would be the recommended increase?

    Any advice welcomed……thanks

Can you feel the heat on the Roland?
    What is the temp?

    Hi Dave,

The warmth/heat can be felt and the profile for the banner material shows 37 degrees print and 40 degrees dryer.

I have upped these to 40 print and 45 dryer and reprinted and this seems….note I said seems…… to have done the trick but help/advice from the more knowledgable would be appreciated…

I cook around the 40-45’s mark with the JV3, if too low the ink wont adhere to the banner very well.

How was the banner stored whilst out gassing Roger?

was it hung up on a wall or laid flat on a bench. I’m just wondering if it was laid flat and the temperature of the building has dropped it might well have stayed ‘wet’

I think thats just how it is with Eco Solvent inks.

Thanks for the replies…Glenn it was laid flat out on the work bench with the building temp around 15-20 degrees centigrade. I just tried the second banner I printed at higher temp and it’s just the same…..so I’m going for broke and cranking the temp right up and using sign & display ink profile on Versaworks…fingers crossed as this one has to be out and posted on Monday…

I never leave anything to dry out on th e bench, always stood on end vetically. Banners i heat pre and print heaters at 35 and post at 45 and they dry almost instantly.

    Regards

    Russell.

Many thanks for the replies folks…..I’m hoping having turned the temps up a fair few degrees to the mid 40’s will have done the trick.
