Poster printing on Roland SPi
Posted by Warren Beard on March 25, 2010 at 5:09 pmHi Guys
As many will know I have a pigment printer and I do a lot of poster work on it, with the new Roland coming and inks etc being cheaper I was wondering about printing posters on it, anybody done it and how’s the quality etc and what paper from where?
cheers

Hi Warren, I had a few problems initially, but all sorted. For us the best paper was from Metamark. We did quite a few professional photographic prints for a photographer down the road until he went bust. It fits in nicely with the colour profile on Versaworks.

Ps. When is it arriving?

Thanks Jason, I’ve already received some vinyl samples from Metamark as the rep came around last week so I broke the good news to her and she had 5 sample rolls on my door the next morning even though the machine only arrives next week :cheer:
I’ll have to get some paper samples too now 😉

The metamark poster paper is MDPP. Dorotape also do a reasonable one which is more a satin paper.Have had no issues with either.

The pigment printer seems to be looking more obsolete each day for me 😉 :lol1:

Warren, which printer do you have. I converted my CJ 500 to solvent. Just wondering if you could convert yours.

It’s a Canon W8400 but wouldn’t want to convert anyway, I am only keeping it as I have recently been supplying Giclee prints and these have to be done with pigment inks, when I don’t do these any more or don’t want to do them any more I will move it on to make some space.
