Im off to look at a Tranny tomorrow (the van, not the man in a frock). Its a 2002 2.4TD MWB. Does anyone have one of these on here? What are they like?

Cheers guys, its up for 2200GBP but i deal in cars alot even to the point of having a trade policy so im hoping to get it for under 2K, like you said Peter, its a buyers market (and Christmas is coming).

Its got 12 months MOT but more importantly its got 10 months tax so theres a bonus.

Ive been told to check the clutch as they are supposedly a weak point. Ive got a little Berlingo at the minute but its just not big enough anymore. Ill be sorry to see it go to be honest as its been a cracking little van.

on a 2002 plate you will probably find that its got the modified clutch & flywheel by now. You should check all of the central locking works & check if its got the security mod. Where the wiring goes into the rear door
there should be a shield to stop thieves running a knife up the door edge & cutting the wires, shorting the locking system & leaving all the doors unlocked

Kev I thought that was a Connect problem, never knew it was the same with the transit. Good pointer,

Kevin, do you mean to the van side of the doors or the centre?

I’m now well over 200,000 miles on the original clutch…..owner drivers tend to be more careful……….

Got it this morning, ripped out the ply lined bulk head and used it on a job this afternoon. Great van, clutch has already been done and everything works. Only problem is a snapped rear door hinge, doddle to fix.

Not bad for £2000, dealers have them in for over 3k +VAT

What Kevin was referring to is the main wiring harness on the rear doors. If you open the rear right hand door, you will see a double thick wiring harness. This should have a piece of angle iron in front of it to stop it being cut through with a blade. I did post s piccy of the problem on here some time ago….will try to find it. Great van by the way…..want it liveried up :lol1:
