Pop-up Exhibition stand. Help needed please?
Good morning all,
I got this frame second hand. I only have the frame and the magnets going from top to bottom.
Can you please tell me what are these hooks for?
Is this frame missing some parts?
Can I improvise? 3mm foamex perhaps. As I need to print today.
Will the print stay on the stand with only the strip magnet on its side? Without using the hooks?

The graphic panels have a header rail with hooks on they should also have a kicker rail at the bottom.

I’m I right to assume that without these “rail with hooks” and “kicker rail” this job is impossible to do?
Wondering if I can improvise somehow?

You can buy replacement headers and kickers. I don’t recognise this frame but if you know who supplied it you can contact the and ask for replacements. They just stick on the new graphics.

Thank Lee. I must find a hack using thin Foamex. No time to order anything as this is going to an event this weekend.

If you must use the frame then zip ties in the top corners with mag tape down the edges would be about as much as you could do.
Personally if I was in that much of a rush I’d probably go to a timber merchant and create something from scratch. Quicker, easier and stronger than trying to fudge a pop up together. That way you could cover the ends to make it look neater.

You should get away with 1mm foamex they are about 40 – 50mm high and fit in between the mag tape on the graphics at the top and bottom the hooks just make fitting the graphic panels easier helping you to align the image.

Mistakes I might of done today on my first pop up stand project:
Missing original accessories would of helped a lot.
I think laminating the print would of given me more rigid print.
Do you agree? Do you laminate your pop up stands?The magnet has curved the print slightly. Far from disappointed, but need to improve.
Appreciate if you join the discussion. Need to do tide up the stand over the weekend for Monday show.

Only done one and we used a 400GSM back lit pop up banner.
We didn’t laminate and had all the right stuff as it was new.
It does take a lot longer to put together than you would expect. Trim and mounting wise prob get through about 10 pop ups an hour once there printed. This ended up taking me most of the day and it was only 6 pieces. Still worth it, but not many clients up here that want them I think.
Can’t say I noticed any tape coming through/shadow.

I’m 90grams lighter, hence the wrinkles.
Will go back today. Remove magnets, laminate and then see the results.

I was thinking the same.
After it finished printing I was under impression that will complete in 2h.
But I was wrong. Took around 6h. Will take me even longer to improve. -

I was surprised when I looked into them that it was magnetic. I thought it would be some sort of clip system and you would pull it tight, but I suppose for one person that would be a nightmare to put up.

I’ve made it.
Learned few thing along the way.The thing that annoyed me is the magnets couldn’t be lined up!
Does this mean that:
I’ve used wrong magnets?
(Magnets are especially sold as pop up stand magnets. I put white vinyl so you can see them easily)
My main magnets that get fixed to the frame are damaged?

Found the magnets to be hit and miss. Some brands seem to line up others don’t. If I can’t get them to line up (test first) stick them on a few mm from the edge of the graphic. Would always laminate as well stops them getting scratched

Spoke to supplier and awaiting different polarity magnets. -
Different polarity magnets types working as they should

We use 500 micron material on these. A lot stiffer, and won’t deform. The magnetic comes in A and B, with different polarity.
