  • Poor quality print.

    Hi all.

I’m looking for some advise or recommendations please.

I have just changed to a Versacamm VS540i from my trusted sp540v.
I have reliably used Orajet 3162, which is an intermediate 4 year vinyl, for a few years and been happy with the results.

I have now started printing on the same media with the VSi and I’m not too happy with the results.
The prints look like they have tiny pin pricks through the solid colours, (its less noticeable through blends).

I just wondered if anyone has come across this and found a solution.

I’am using the 3164 profile as recommended by Orafol as the surface is the same as the 3162.
I’ve played around with the heater settings but it doesn’t seem to make a difference to the print quality.

If anyone using a VSi can recommend a new vinyl for me to try or let me know if they use Orajet without an issue I’d appreciate it, so I know I’m barking up the wrong tree.

Sorry the photos aren’t the best. You can see the problem through the red band but it appears through any solid colour.
    Thanks again.

    Hi
change the rendering intent which is located towards the bottom of the settings page, link will give you some help

    http://support.rolanddga.com/docs/docum … aworks.pdf

    Try this as starting point
    Roland Sign RGB
    Euroscale uncoated
    Colorific
    Colorific

    preserve primary unticked
    use embedded profile ticked

You do know that 3162 is a removable vinyl

    Thanks a lot Kev.
The knowledge base on this forum never ceases to amaze me.

    Quality issues have improved dramatically.

I’m always a bit reluctant to mess around with settings in case I mess things up. I need to set a bit of time aside to have a tinker to see what does what. I’ll make sure I keep a note of the settings before I change things though, just in case.

This may be a stupid question, Kev. I know the 3162 has removable adhesive. The 3164 is permanent adhesive. My understanding was that the 3162 was easier when it came to removing it. Or am I missing a trick?

    thanks again.

The 3162 is removable which can mean that it is easier to remove but can come away when washing a van etc. 3164 is a permanent vinyl can still be removed and yes they both have the same face film

    Ah I see.
