My wife works part time as a area manager for a very large uk company (they make the black stuff with the white top-remember the rutger hower adds 😉 ) they provide sheltered housing for the elderly. Yesterday she got a letter with a yearly planner A3 size and was told to put this up in the main Lobby, now on this planner it has every single religeous event known to man marked out on it,hindu/islam etc etc etc, tenants have been told by letter that they must abide by these events or they may face eviction, Heres the interesting part, not 1 person who lives in any of these premises are from the ethnic community and all are christian or cathlic faith or like myself not into any faith whatsoever, also how many christian/cathlic events do you think are on this yearly planner? yep thats right NOT 1 !!!!! i think i had better keep my personnel views on this subject to myself but you can imagin how old folk 65+ feel about this that live in these places. (chat.) (:) (hot)

And we all know that if it was the other way round there would be a major uproar, and it’ll probably make the headlines!

    Hi Andy

No what you mean I’m not religious myself either but believe all religions should be treated in the same manner but unfortunately that is the way of the world today!!

Just look at that story in the news about the woman from BA! How pathetic can companies get? If the veil and scarves are not a symbol of religion, then neither is a cross, it’s as simple as that. I’m only 25, yet I think most of the world is barking mad. If they want freedom of speech, they need to allow people to express themselves but not to the extent of extremeism. The only reason they pick on Christians and the likes is because they as a whole turn a blind eye. They don’t retalliate unlike parts of some other religions. You’ve only got to look at the comments that come from Lebanon about wiping Israel off the map. It’s quite simply pathetic. Look at the comments about operation christmas child (shoe boxes) or whatever it’s called, that’s been attacked now as targetting children to convert them.

I must say these are my views, and don’t want to cause offence. I just feel there is no need for religious violence. We as a country decided to go "Multi Cultural" and that’s were the problem lies. If we’d taken the stance of many other countries and said ethnic groups must comply with OUR way of life, these problems would never have arisen. You only need to look at women going to prison in foreign countries for not "covering up". That brings other discrimination into the bargain too.

If we are multi-cultural, then that’s what we should be, not one rule for one religion a different rule for another. Tolerence is the way forward….but on all sides.

I am NOT attacking any comments in this thread by the way….I agree totally!

Sorry I’ll stop ranting now! Back to work 🙂

Alan, what does it mean by "abide by these events" do the poor old folk have to conform to fasting during ramadan Etc.

Do they have to face mecca when praying, and change their diet on the said days.???

To tell you the truth peter i dont know exactly what they expect them to do, what i do know now is there is absolute hell on at the place a petition is going round to get it removed and i think me wife is also going to resign over it 🙁 so atm the balloon has gone up and it is causing a lot of grief for everybody.

I think it’s because the authorities are scared of the consequences of not being politically correct! It’s a lot less hassle to put up with demonstrations and the odd petition. The crazy thing is, even if your wife resigns over it all….there’ll be someone who doesn’t care enough who’ll take the available job and the resignation won’t really make that much of an impact when really it should.

Big news here today is that Nestle in australia are labelling all their chocolate, meals and drinks "halal" approved, and paying a royalty to the Islamic Council here on every item sold featuring the approved halal logo.

Within hours of the news breaking, the buying public are already suggesting a total ban Nestle products in the stores, featuring the halal logo. The argument being that these big corporations are trying to apease a minority here, assuming that they are more important to satisfy than the local christian majority

Nestle here are already talking huge losses if the buying public bans gets support from the housewives. At the moment, it looks like it will, because the press are pushing the story pretty hard.

    Yup! PC gone mad.

Today, the worst possible ‘thing’ you can be is a white, 30-50 year old married male (straight) with no children, owning your own house, a 4×4 and in a low to middle income with christian beliefs and a friendly demenor. Why?

Not young enough to get any ‘young incentives’, not old enough to get any ‘senior benefits’. Straight, and probably being accused of homophobia for liking women…White, oppressor of all other races…Male, obviously a masoginistic woman hater…No kids, so no tax relief for that low income…Homeowner, at the mercy of local taxes & inflation…4×4, gas guzzler obviously so now a social piriah…low to mid income, not low enough to get any benefits – just high enough to get walloped & be working for next to nothing…Christian, well, mustn’t offend anybody else so kiss goodbye to freedom of expression & speech…Too friendly to the neighbours & thier kids, must be a paedophile. (hot)

Oh, the best? 18 year old single, preferrably muslim* assylum seeking lesbian with 5 kids, no job, drug habit & several law suits pending for ‘persecution’ against the health service & police… 👿

    * I know a few Muslims – and they are very courteous & hospitable, so I’m NOT bashing other faiths or lifestyles – just commenting on the current political climate.

Course we’ve got freedom of speech in Britain, just not for the British thats all. Wots everyones problem I like being picked on for being a motorist, being over 50 and dont mind at all that I may get a criminal record for putting the wrong rubbish in the line of black (can I say that)brown (can I say that) green (I know I can say that …….I think) bins that i have to find room for in my small garden. Britain……..its gone mad.

I reckon a campaign of "civil disobedience" is the only way to rid this country of the encroaching madness. This should include flaunting of all H&S regulations, driving in Bus lanes, Smoking in public places (In Scotland) Put regular rubbish in all dustbins (no matter what colour), Buy the biggest 4X4 you can (and not bother to tax it), don’t pay your TV licence or rates bill. Buy your fags and Booze from France. Vote BNP at the next election. Go to work on a building site without a "thingummy" card, dump your rubbish out in the country side…etc.

Please add to the list 🙄

Too many fucking social workers in this country, if you ask me. Them and anyone who went to university, it’s all their fault. I worked in the youth service when I left school, and this PC cack was in its infancy, but was definitely the shape of things to come. I got a bollocking one day for referring to a group of people as ‘youngsters’ when I should have said ‘young people’. I didn’t work there for long. Wankers.

I must say, a lot of this stuff about political correctness and unfair treatment, is quite often down to heresay and urban myth. The gutter press dont help, they only highlight extraordinary cases, most of the time its sensationalism just to wind joe public up.
Believe what you must, but far better the society we live in, than a lot of other countries in the world.

Just to put it into perspective, in other countries, not very long ago, and even now, some of the comments made on these boards could have put the writer behind bars or worse…

Yes, that may be true Peter, but tell me why I was asked to describe my ethnicity to the old bill yesterday when they pulled me for driving down a bus lane. Why? What’s the point of that?
We do, supposedly, live in a free country (obviously within reason), yet we are being bullied and picked on every day. There are myths and sensationalist stories circulating which are to be taken with a pinch of salt, but there are also pathetic rules being dreamt up to stop people speaking honestly. I’ve been pulled up on other forums for describing a former colleague as being 5 foot ten and black. That’s racist, apparently.

    Geez!

Phil, there are plenty of Gaelic speakers on the West coast.

Just had the council stop my client from using magenta in his logo, there was no issue with it initially but when he complained and caused a fuss over the length of time it was taking to sort out the planning, all of a sudden, " he is not allowed any pink of any sort". And yes my client is gay, and yes there is another sign just up from his with pink in it. We changed it to light blue, "sorry no", "it is difficult to put into words, but you must use a more subtle colour" I was told, they have settled for Mactac Pastel Aqua.

All mad, but we are still here!

    Yeah, well…….

I have told our local council that if they want to send an inspector round to take photos of the inside of my house for council tax purposes they’d better send a big one.

Dangerous topic , PC, but I feel compelled to give you a 3rd world account.

Did a tender a while ago for the only cellular service provider in Namibia. This company is about 30% owned by a Portugese company, 70% owned by companies, owned by companies, owned by Government of Namibia.

Scoring goes like this: (working to an eventual 100 points)

    Ownership: 15 points

If you are a White Male 7,5 points, white female 10 points, black male 12 points, person with disabilities 12,5 points, black female 15 points.

    Management: 15 points. Same story

Social responsibility: Same story (Basically, if you give study bursaries to black males / females, lots of points. If the pimpel faces are white, no or little points.)

    ETC. ETC. ETC>

NO mention made as to EXPERIENCE of employees, owners etc. A white male with 4 decades of in depth, hands on, industry leading experience is worth only half of an illeterate 19 year old black female who was a goat herder for her father until yesterday!! This in spite of a constitution guarantteing equality, irrespective of Race, Colour, or Creed!!

Black Economic Empowerment!! Makes Bin Ladin seem like a school lightie playing with his Meccano Set.

I have the entire Tender Document as an Exel file. If you guys are interested, I can post it if allowed. (It was a $ 500 000 to $700 000 tender…)

Come to think of it, next time round I’ll claim 12,5 points for persons with disabilities. I was born with disabilitating, congenital, whiteness!!
