plt files are usually gerber files, you will need composer. Or email the files to somebody with GSP software, (like me) and they could convert for you.

Signlab and corel Draw will both import HPGL *.plt files and Signlab will also import Advantage/Omega *.plt files.

I had few costumers that made wrong conversion/export. Usually the bad files are small in size.
Corel shouldnt have any problem with PLT.

Yeah Corel handles .plt files normally no problems it may be the file is corrupted.

We convert in corel to take to our router.

PLT files can be anything (HPGL,HPGL2, DMPL RDGL GPGL , calcomp etc)
But 95 percent of the time its going to be HPGL.
But, for some unknown reason, Gerber also chose to save thier Drawing files with a PLT extension. Talk about potentional for confusion.

You need top know if its a HPGL PLT file or Gerber Drawing file which also has PLT extension.
Futhermore, you need to know if its a Gerber Omega or Gerber Advantage PLT file.

Try to open the file in NotePad.
If you see a lot of “PU”s and “PD”s with lots of numbers, its HPGL
If you see nothing but wierd gibberish like squares and happy faces, its probably a Gerber PLT file.

Most all programs can import HPGL but only Gerber and newer versions of Signlab can import Gerber drawing PLT files that i know of.
