  • Please vote now on Competition Entries

Posted by Robert Lambie on January 4, 2006 at 4:03 pm

    Hi folks
the time has come were we need your votes to decide who wins our recent contest.
every entry submitted was very good and more so, very funny. what we would like to ask is…

    by way of clicking reply:

Pick two entries, order does not matter.
the entry with most votes wins.

we are not creating a poll as we want to see exactly who is voting & so that no cheating can go on. thats the main reason that only “access members” can vote. i.e. bronze, silver, gold and uksg members only.

if your own entry is there, “you cannot vote for it” you must vote for someone else. this is because it is possible that an entry is not from an access member, so they cannot vote for themself as a result.

your location, worldwide, does not matter. nor does it matter if you are a supplier. you can all vote.

replies should only include the “number” of the 2 entries you are voting for.

i think that is all for now, any questions feel free to ask.

    please note:

this post has been put in a seperate forum. none members cannot access here, but can see it in the list of forums.

voting will close 9pm sunday night.

voting by moderators has been done so “blind” nobody, other than myself, knows who entered what. even now, moderators do not know who belongs to these entries. we would also like to ask finalists, NOT to give hints here or on the open forums of their entry. if you do, we will have to pull the entry from the shortlist. sorry 😕

    thank you very much…

    Number 1

(Sung to the tune of the Britney Spears hit song “Hit me Baby one more time” by Darius)

    Oh UKSB
How was I supposed to know
That I’d be up all night here
    Oh UKSB
I shouldn’t have joined you so
And now my nights are spent here
Show me, how it always used to be
Tell me, Robbie ’cause I need to know now,

    Chorus:
My late nights on, are killing me
I must confess I still believe
If I’m not signed on, I’d lose my mind
    Design me a sign
    UKSB one more time

    Oh Graphtec GB
How was I supposed to know
    That something wasn’t right here
    I bought a cheap cutter
From Ebay and it just won’t go
And there’s no one to support me
Show me, the deals you offer
Tell me, because I need to know now,

    Chorus:
My broken cutter is killing me
I must confess I now believe
It was a mistake, to buy it cheap now
    I can’t make a sign, (duh….)
kick me baby one more time 🙁

    Impact Sign solutions
How was I supposed to know
    That you had copyright yeah
    I traded outlines
I shouldn’t have but now you know
And now you’re out of pocket, yeah
Show me, how you want it to be
    Tell me,
Brian ’cause I need to know now

    Chorus:
    My stinginess is killing me
I must confess I still believe
If you didn’t know, you wouldn’t mind
    Give me an outline
Hit me baby one more time. 🙂

    Number 2

My little attempt at ‘ritin’ a rap
I’m not much good, an’ most of its crap.

The reason I do it, without any lies,
I wanna get my mits on the UKSB prize.

I’d love a cd, have no illlusions,
Supplied free of charge from Impact Sign Solutions.

And while I’m @ it, what the heck,
I could do with a craft robo f.o.c. from Graphtec.

So you wanna to be a signmaker?
    Its plain to see,
The first thing to do is join UKSB.

Soon after that, just hold on a sec,
    The advice you’ll be given,
    Will be, “buy a Graphtec.”

for clipart and van outlines, dont buy substitutions
To keep updated and in front of the rest,
    Always use Impact Sign Solutions.

    Number 3

    Bohemian Rhapsody for Signmakers

    Is this the sign life?
    Is this vinyl fantasy?
    Caught in a deeesign
    No escape from designers here
    Open your eyes
Look onto the net and seeee
I’m just a sign boy, need plenty of sympathy
Because signs easy come, easy go
Put a little high, little low
Anyway the wind blows, my signs seem to stay there for me, for me

    Signboards, just signed a van
Put some vinyls on this shed
    Think the engine’s ruddy dead
    Signboards, signs have just begun
But now I think I should have gone another way
    Signboards, ooooo
Didn’t mean to make a post
If I’m not back again this time tomorrow
Carry on, Lambie’s on, the site administrator

Too late, my signs fell down
    Landed straight upon my spine
Gives me backache all the time
Goodbye everybody, I’ve got to go
Eaten beans all day, now have to face the truth
Signboards, oooo (anyway my wind blows)
I feel I want to die
I sometimes wish I’d never had those beans at all

I see a little silhouetto of a van
On Impact Sign, Impact Sign, Impact Sign Solutions
Nicola and Carrie – very very frightening me
    UKSignboards, UKSignboards
    UKSignboards, UKSignboards
    UKSignboards – magnifico

But I’m just a sign boy and nobody loves me
He’s just a sign boy from a sign family
Spare him his life from this signmaking spree
Easy come easy go – will you let me go
Rob Lambie! No – we will not let you go – let him go
Rob Lambie! We will not let you go – let him go
Rob Lambie! We will not let you go – let me go
Will not let you go – let me go (never)
Never let you go – let me go
Never let me go – ooo
No, no, no, no, no, no, no –
Oh UKSignboards, UKSignboards, UKSignboards let me go
Graphtec GB has a system put aside for me
    for me
    for me

So you think you can design for me and remove my red eyes
So you think you can critisize and leave me to cry
Oh Lambie, can’t do this to me Lambie
Just gotta get out – just got to get right outta of here

    Nothing really matters
    Anyone can see
Nothing really matters – nothing really matters to me

    Anyway my wind blows. . . . . Pooh!!

i have just noticed that some “this morning” cannot see the pdf download?
i have now deleted and loaded it again, can i ask anyone that has already voted and could not see the pdf to try viewing it again?
after viewing, if you wish to change your vote, just click “edit” and change your vote.

sorry about the inconvenience caused. 😕

2 and 3 for me, with 1 as a runner up
(I know I can’t vote for three entries)
    I don’t have speakers dammit.
I really did like 3 the best but 2 kinda pushes the site’s usefulness,
    while 1 was very true.
I should have written one to the Talking Heads’ “Up All Night”.
