  • Please help… Mutoh Engineer required near York

    Hi everyone,

Desperate need of an engineer that has experience with Rockhopper I 62". I think I have blown the mainboard when changing a printhead, but want to have it all checked over before I took such a plunge!

Any suggestions for engineers to use would be much appreciated, can’t really find anyone local on google!!

    Thanks,

    Rich

It’s much more likely that you have simply blown the head fuse on the main board, which is likely to cost you a few quid and then needs to be soldered on the main board.

This can happen if you connect or disconnect the head cables whilst there is power to the machine or the cables are making an intermittent contact.

Unfortunately due to forum rules I cannot recommend an engineer (I am a supplier) but I think you will find that you don’t need to replace the main board (hopefully) which won’t be cheap.

    Regards,

    Mike Antrum.

thanks for the reply, by jove i’m really hoping you’ve cracked it! that would make sense. the power cable was still plugged into the socket, unit off at the switch, but still a surge of power could still’ve been there.

i’ll have a look tomorrow, my brother-in-law has an electrical degree so he is popping to have a quick look over it for me before going down the engineer route. got a contact for an engineer but keen to see if you are right first!

again, thanks for the suggestion – i’ll post my progress tomorrow.

    cheers,

    rich

Thanks for the guidance, you were right and that there was a micro fuse gone that controlled that printhead!

Saved me a fortune, thank you so much! 😛

I’m glad it all worked out.

The golden rule is if you are going to unplug cables in the machine make sure the mains is off (and preferably disconnected) and you have given it 10 minutes for any power to discharge first. This is also make sure they are all reseated correctly before the mains goes back.

On some machines this is as much for you own health as the machine’s (trust me – been there, done that).

    Happy printing.

    Mike
