  • Please help and advise me on a large grain silo sign

    Hi Everyone.
I have been asked to make a sign for the large grain silo in the photo, to be seen from the road. The space between the ribs is as shown, 1780mm.
Vinyl would be very hard to apply in the corrugated surface.
I thought maybe a banner stretched between some of the ribs, but I do not know how this would stand up to heating up and also there is a pretty constant wind there as well.

Has anyone done anything like this before and might have some suggestions?

    Simon.

I think I’d go for a solid aluminium board with backing chanels bolted to the ribs (if possible). If you use anything that’s likely to break loose in a gale it’s liable to take somebody’s head off. I think I’d only use a banner there as a temporary sign.

I think I would project and paint it.
(Or pounce pattern it and stick the pattern with duct tape)
It’s not going to be fun but you can charge a lot for your troubles.

    Thanks for the suggestions.
I am still a bit lost here though.
Jill I think it will need to be changed at some point, also the material is galvanised so that will need an etch primer first. As you say, not going to be fun. Not to mention it is up to ten meters above the ground.

Aluminium panels are probably the way to go I suppose, with the channels for strength. Thanks Neil.
