It the area I’m in they all want every thing for nothing. I have just walked past a new car wash garage and the signs are all made out of fluted plastic (cant think of the name or the stuff). So the customer probably saved £50. No point putting your name to rubbish signs.
The quote was not for this sign I just saw it today.

indeed. sounds ok to me but they possibly spray up some panels or emulsion paint it

quote Ian Pople:The customer almost fell of his chair.
He’ll be the theatrical type that probably rehearses falling off his chair :lol1:

I don’t even deal in plastic these days, 99% of what I do is composite. I just don’t see the point of anything else unless its for cheapo builders boards but, even they usually go comp once they’ve seen it!
I do composite boards, 3m x .75m for £155 in cut vinyl (basic designs) and fitted down the rugby club, they retail them for £250 as sponsorship. digi print is nearer £350-400.
ok, so they’re advertising / sponsoring but at the end of the day, you need to double your panel cost, add your marked up vinyl and your time if necessary.
i’d buy black panel in though.

If this sort of thing happens with every customer you speak to then I would probably say you are to expensive Ian, if this is a one off then forget about it and move on. If you are getting every job you quote for then chances are you are to cheap.
Why did the customer nearly fall off his chair?? Has he had quotes from other sign companies or did he have an idea of how much this signage was going to cost him?
If he has had quotes from other companies then are they like for like or are they using cheap materials that won’t last.
If he just had an idea himself what was that based on ?Even in an erea where everyone seems to want everything for nothing there are customers who are more interested in quality and are prepared to pay a fair price for it, finding them and wining their business is the difficult bit. Even some people who want everything for nothing can be educated to some degree but unfortunately this can take time.
