Carrie, do you make the wooden frame etc, buy it in, or what?

Carrie,
Really like the plaque, when you say printed crests is that sublimation or printed on clear self ad ?Andrew

Lorraine, we made the wooden backing and frame in house. Exterior MDF backing board and decorative trim from local DIY. You can buy lengths of trim from the diy’s at a good price and they come in so many diferent patterns and finishes …. very simple to put together.
Andrew we printed onto clear vinyl. We have done loads like this …. we did one about three years ago and it still looks great. We spray laminate over the prints to add life expectancy.

Thanks all again 😀
Nik we get them from either the local diy B&Q or we go to the tool hire place just around the corner from work that sells and hires just about everything you would need if you were into building work etc. They add a nice finish … well I think so anyway.

Nice job Carrie, its surprising the difference a wooden frame makes to these sorts of signs, I quoted for a job about a year ago (Brass plaque with simple text & Logo) for a housing assocciation, when they contacted me to start work they said they had 3 quotes and what they really liked about mine was the wooden backing. The other 2 companys had just quoted to fix a brass plaque straight to the wall.

i’d never thought of using vinyl on a plaque and then laminating it !
nice job,
the screws in question are, as carrie says, freely available at most diy stores, they’re called mirror screws, or were when i was in building !
cos they dont actually look like mirrors… i expect they got some dumb euro legislated name now like ‘ screwy inny light bending domed podule caps’ !
