the place looks very organised and more spacious phill, though i must admit i thought it was pretty organised already.
have you done away with something or is it the rejig of things has created more space? there now seems to be a large clear space between the table and computer from what i can remember.
you must be able to get a bus in there now? 😀
we also painted our floor light grey… it really brightens the room up in our place, im guess it must do the same for you, or was it originally light grey and your freshening it up?

thanks for taking the time to load these pictures, much appreciated.

We used to have an office/reception area which has been pulled down making everything open plan. I’m sure it was still up the last time you visited. Also the area where the workstations are was all carpeted before. The loading bay area had a grey painted floor before but now it’s all been re-painted a much lighter grey colour which makes the place feel more spacious too. We’ve also got rid of a few things like a PC that was only used for word processing and accounts – this is now set up to work on one of the two workstations. I’ve set up a local area network which allows file and printer sharing between the PCs and allows me to plug my laptop in and backup files or use as an extra workstation if need be.

Phil it looks like a really nice environment in which to work. . . I’d kill for a workshop like that !

How many sq ft do you have there and how much do you pay per month if you don’t mind me asking ?
I’m currently looking for workspace and am debating the Unit Vs Shop. . .

    Phil, it looks very smart.

Do you have any problems with the cadet being exposed to the general atmosphere of the workshop? Say for instance if you had to do some sawing or routing?, guess you dont do that though, cant see any evidence.

    Very nice Phill.
How do you find the heat situation, now it’s all open plan?.
ie, when it’s really cold you usually dive in the office and and put an extra fan heater on.

The pale grey is definitely the best colour for floors, makes it look very spacious.

Nice place Phil, just wondering how the temperature is in there for the Cadet, looks like no insulation on roof and concrete block walls all leading to cold workspace.

    Cheers

Karl – It’s not normally this clean – I’ve just finished re-painting the floor so everything is nice and tidy just now. I’m going to make a special effort to keep it that way though.

Dave Harrison – It’s 1000sq. ft – we pay about £500 per month + Rates

Peter – we don’t do any routing but dust is a problem when sawing, I try and keep it away from the Cadet. We used to have a separate office where we kept the colorcamm simply because of the dust situation, it’s not such a big deal with an inkjet though.

Martin – the heater is very efficient but most of the heat rises to the ceiling,. I have a couple of fans perched on top of the toilet block which I switch on in order to re-circulate the air and blow some of the heat back down again, this works very well.

Dave – The roof is double skinned as are the outer walls so it heats up pretty well when it’s cold. It’s freezing first thing in the morning though.

Rob – well done for spotting the chop saw. That and the table saw get pulled out into the main bay area when in use and pushed to the side when not in use to allow vehicles to get in.

Peter – the Monitor is not facing the wall – it’s a flat screen monitor which might explain why it looks that way (see pic 1).

Marcella – shame on you for teasing Rob about his stutter 😕

Sorry – that monitor is on the counter for our customers to look at. It normally plays a demonstration about vehicle liveries which you can download here:-

Phill it looks good, although I thought it was alright before, you have put a fair bit of hard work into the referb I can see.
What made you decide to get rid of the Reception area you had? Was it just to give yourself a bit more space and how is it working out?

I will have to pop in and check out all the changes, if you have a kettle maybe I will get a coffee next time I am passing !!!!

We got rid of the reception to give us more room for the Cadet and I much prefer it this way now.

And you always got coffee when you called in didn’t you ?? 😳

Phill, Just pulling your leg about the coffee!!!

I have to say that you and Alison always made me feel most welcome, even when you were busy. Most of the sign companies round my way wouldn’t give you the time of day so it was a most welcome change.
