I was going to take photos of my place too, but your is so much tidier then mine, now I’m embarrassed 😳

Interesting footwear too. WPH&S would love to see that 😛 I won’t show the wife then… (She’s a WPH&S Officer). I can only dream of the day I don’t have to wear steel caps (or footwear) at the office 😕

Maybe an idea to start a general "workroom" topic?

I’ll take some pictures of ours today too.

As my house is attached to my workshop I can often find myself sitting here at lunchtime in my slippers. Don’t tell your wife though. 😀

mine was once the place where the coop kept their horses for milk deliveries

my workshop is in a really old building in a courtyard , it has a big double door and i was curious as to what it was in its previous life . i asked and was quite surprised to learn that it was the stables where the co-op used to keep the horses in the days when milk was delivered by horse and cart . anyone else have an unusual workplace ?>

not allowed any signs outside at all as it is a listed building but the windows are lettered (only allowed on the inside !! ) and the cars dumped at the door so people can see where i am ! .
pics not great ~ car kind of dominates it , but you can see how old the building is

i’m nt so proud that i can’t show you why i need to do my big things outside !! my workshop felt big when i first built it, now, partially due to having more work on, and jobs sitting around until fitting, the place feels tiny !

i had a quick count up yesterday, i have over 70 rolls and part rolls of mostly oracle vinyls, even several 5×3 sheets of foamex that i’d long forgotten are hidden behind where the bait fridge and vinyl is ! ya can see now why i’m about to extend the workshop !!!

ps, the workshop is currently ‘mid job’ so is exceptionally messy right now ! i’ve just not had the time to do anything than shove things in free spaces for the past two weeks !

is there a prize for the messiest workshop ? 😀

Just an outside shot of our unit for the minute (until we clear up inside that is!).

The mini is actually yellow wrapped in Black cast. The roller door is in MD5.

    Cheers. Nick.

If there was, you’d win it. Hands down. 😀

Seriously, we all get untidy from time to time, especially when we are busy, but, having just tidied ours up a bit I can afford to be a bit pompous about it. 😀

I’ll try to post some piccies tomorrow.

    Nick,

Are they Linde Lift Trucks on your door?

    Hi John

Yes they are Linde – I believe we have a mutual client. Ian gave me permission to use their image which was really good of him.

Its actually been a good advert for us, we have had 2 jobs and a few enquiries as a direct result of the doors.

Another sign co just around the corner copied the idea but were made to take it down by their landlord.

    Cheers. Nick.

Small world. We’ve been doing vans for Linde since 1990. That’s seventeen years now. 😮

Ian gave us a glowing reference when I was pitching for the Virgin Media job, which was a big help.

Lol naked? whats loaded in your other firefox tabs. Do we want to know.

    Nick I like your door.

Were working out of home at the moment thats our parents home. I wonder if theyll be up for us wrapping the roller door.

We could like put an image of a ferrari parked in there. That would get a few people looking.

while we are at it…….. here is mine!

that banner is 12ft long so you get the idea. Just after refitting and moving a few things around to gain the extra inches all round.

Oh, please dont laugh at my customised plotter stand!! Hope you like the nifty catching device made from an old towel 🙄

All vinyls stored in roof compartments that I made. Keeps them out the way and easy to get to. Got utterly p*ssed off with app tape, so the dispenser for that is what is nearest to the camera on the right.

Worktop not doing too badly… 3mm coated hardboard!! Need to replace soon for polypropylene at some stage.

looks like you n me have a similar sized workshop, except mine is, well, not exactly less organised, just very much more full !

i hadn’t noticed the plotter add on until you said, even then i looked hard to see it, it’s not a bad idea !!! i clean my floor regularly but i still get muck picked up on the vinyl, something like that could sort me out, i keep thinking about buying the proper one that fits to a summa, but thatta-do-me !

John, if there was a prize for the messiest work space Hugh wouldn’t stand a chance I can assure you. I don’t have a workshop at all so at the moment I pretty much live, work and sleep in my bedroom. I am not allowed to use any other part of the house so everything is crammed into the one room.

gee whiz guys…. not that big is it? I’m seriously in need of more space, but the council will not cut me any more slack in my home license. As it is I’m using more space than I’m technically licensed for…

Got our local politician coming to see me on monday…(looking to discuss a community issue – whatever that means?) wondering how I can explain my situation actually….

I would love to have a workshop that size Shane. Beats the shed situation!! get by with most jobs. done a few large signs and banners recently, and the size didnt help at all. Got there in the end, just takes a bit longer.

With regards to vinyl catcher as Hugh mentioned, it works well, although when it feeds backwards it can drag on floor – which at minute is very dusty! Soon to be solved…. just been given a lot of laminate flooring for free! Will be the classiest shed around :lol1:

Here’s my workshop, most of this equipment used to be in my house, now it fills my office!

Through the door with the typeface library on it’s the same size again but a real mess with saw’s and other stuff

John I’m often in slippers as well, sometimes forget to change them when I’m picking up the kids from school, never managed to work in pyjamas though.

Here are some pictures of my workshop.
It looks real tidy, but that’s mainly because i just moved to this location 😉

If you wonder where i put all my color vinyl: on the second picture there’s a stair to my storage behind the wall.

Shan thats a very nice shed.

Were looking at moving in a few months into a 300m2 warehouse. Will give us tones more room and we’ll be able to do vehicles indoors.

    Benno very tidy setup.

my workshop is 12×8 i think, it’s almost like a chalet type in construction, all the tounge and groove (1" thick) interlocks at the ends, and i then insulated it with polystyrene and platerboarded the interior, i’m soon gonna either get another, or extend this one, to house all the non sign stuff (fishing gear etc!) and build another workbench on the right hand side too, along with additional storage for vinyls underneath it.
