• Photo Block Mounting

Not sure if this belonged in a sign forum if it does can a mod move it.

Does anyone here do photo block mounting? I know vinyl doesn’t apply to MDF but can you coat it with something so the vinyl will apply?

Or should I use paper and some sort of adhesive?

I’ve got a lot of personal photos I want to do like this and I want it really sharp photos which canvas doesn’t give me.

    Any ideas appreciated.

Mate, I print my photos on poly poster paper (Ricky Richards call it ‘Comet’ film I think), then I get it block mounted it with no issues at all. Prints photo quality really well too.

When you go to the sydney show, see Samone or Tuija at the Ricky Richards Stand, she’ll point you in the right direction. Her number is 02 9746 1433

    Hey Drew,

Do you mount it yourself or get it done elsewhere?

Done by a professional. I know a guy locally that will mount an A1 for $19.00. Not worth me doing myself. I can earn $19 a damn site quicker than it takes him to do it for me.

I have paid about $40 to have one done with a fancy edge and super hi gloss finish too. Looks a million bucks.

All the framers around here offer huge discounts for regular work.

I get Mike Potters (the uksb member) wife, Gloria, to do my canvas frames too. My only problem is the distance between us. I’m busy doing other people photos, so have not had the chance to do any more for myself at the moment 😥
