• Phone numbers

I often get customers that want to put every “point of contact” info on their vehicles. What are your thoughts on phone numbers on vehicles, I generally do exactly what the customer wishes, but these days we have shop numbers, fax numbers, mobile numbers, email and web addresses.

    Where did that Logo go?

Should we tell them to “keep it simple stupid” or just do what they ask?

I’d be interested to hear what everyone else thinks of this.

Like Gray I think it is a complete waste of space having every point of contact on a vehicle, we generally put one point of contact on a vehicle, normally the phone number. I like to see web addresses on vehicles as well, dont know if its because its trendy, I feel people can remember web addresses fairly easily, well most addresses anyway. As for e-mail most e-mail addresses are so long you wouldnt remember them and probably wouldnt have a big enough bit of paper on you to write it on.
If the customer wants all this detail on his vehicle we try to talk them out of it, but if they insist we put it on for them. I have never had a fax out of the blue from a new customer looking for signs I have always had a phone call first and most of my e-mail comes through the web site.

I also agree that phone numbers (unless theyr’e really simple or catchy) are a waste. I don’t think I’ve ever written down a phone number I saw on a vehicle. For most small businesses the home town is more important,
so that the potential client will know where they’re located when they go to look them up in the Yellow Pages. Simplicity is beautiful and legible.
