Not quite a sign BUT, I made this for the back of a Mondeo out of 6mm, 10mm and 12mm Glass look Perspex.
Shaped, engraved and cut out holes.

Well not my taste, it was for a friend…………
I have pics somewhere of a 25mm perspex box in a Cosworth Scorpio, if I can find them.

    Thanks for the comments guys,

We have a 2 Newing Hall PNC4E engraving / routing machines here which does all our perspex work etc, all the polishing was done by hand with polishing soap and a special mop on a large drill. The perspex is 6X21 and 6T21 which we sell here, since I am the Northern Ireland distributor for Perspex. We have a large heat oven for forming and a 2m heat line bender for straight line bends.

The hardes part of this job was getting all those acrylic rods to line up with the main shelf and the polo shaped rings and allowing the Tensol Cement to cure.

    Seriously good stuff that !!!!
I would have hated to polish the inside cut outs on a buff as well as fiddle with Tensol and jigs – how long did the job take?

As a matter of interest – what did you charge for that – had I had to do it , I would have come in at at least R10 000 without installing , which is about GBP 850 or so.
How did you do the Pioneer logo ? it looks to me in the pic like it was laser engraved.
I would also LOVE to get the perspex in that thickness , we do have it here in South Africa , but unly to 6mm thick

We have MAJOR problems with CAST acrylic in that the tolerances are + and – 20% on any full sheet – IE we are expected to accept between 8 and 12 mm on a sheet of 10mm – and we are not talking one way here , the sheet varies between that often. We reject anything that is worse than 10% , but even 10% when fabricating can be problematic.
We have spoken to the mnfgrs – telling them to make the perspex in smaller sheets (Its cast between glass sheets which often lose temper in the autoclave and bow in the middle and make the middle of the sheet thiner , and then they turn em over the next time and the middle of the sheet is thicker) sheet size here is about 3m x 2m – some of the imported stuff is better than the 20% , guaranteed less than 10% but is very expensive (and I notice has a smaller sheet size)

Where does he park it? The gear wouldn’t stay in the car for long in these parts!

I would be afraid to leave it for a second 😕

    Rodney

The Pioneer logo is a little cheat, its cut in 3M frosted vinyl….shhhhhhh.
And as for the cost, I cannot remember, it was a while ago now.

We do have some problems here with the tollerences in Perspex but it is not as bad as your’s. We have all sheets, colours and thicknesses here in 3m x 2m size. and our max thickness is 150mm, which only comes in 1220mm x 610mm (thank goodness) would need a crane to lift any larger.

You should consider looking at an extruded Perspex, which has far better thickness tollerences than cast but worse fire properties.

Unfortunately the Girl that owned it, decided to drive into the back of a taxi and right it off 8 weeks after the install.

Or what about this one then, this was done about 8 years ago.

    15mm perspex, with 4″ ports

we then added 6″ ports and 2 2nd subwoofer with 12mm Perspex grill

We would use Extruded perspex however it doesnt laser engrave well at all , and is very stressed.
When fabricating with it , we often have to anneal it to stress relieve it after working on it. Problem is that it tends to craze and stress crack way after it’s delivered and p’s the customers off. Mostly extruded here comes in opals or clears or white – nothing much else.
Ah well , we just have to live with and work around the hassles with CAST.
Easy way to tell cast vs extruded is to burn a piece , cast burns with a ckrackling flame and wont drip molten flaming perspex , extruded burns silently and drips

    Hi
we have recently fallen heir to a PNC4E, basic with programming aid.
Slightly more limited than I would like.
I notice signlab do a driver for it.
have you any experience of PC type software and what is required to upgrade?.
Can the machine be made to exceed 520mm even by 10mm ?
I have a source for cutters that produce virtually polished results on extruded acrylic.
Good to see someone else who appreciates good solid working machines

We have 2 PNC4E’s here, and one is upgraded to run on Signlab/Engravelab. It is well worth doing, opens up the machine to its full potential.
    The max is 520mm x 320mm or 365 x 365mm
