• PC60 striping

Posted by Mike Grant on May 13, 2004 at 9:52 pm

I have suddenly started to get stripes between the print passes.

I have tried to shift the printhead with the offset thingymabob but it is still there. It prints fine between the stripes.

I am always scruplesly (SP) clean but somehow dont think it is a printhead knackkkered problem?????

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Cheers
    Mike

Could be a problem with a Ribbon cartridge? – Try a different one

    Hi Folks – Hi Mike
If your print looks like a sheet of Pinstripe Print – your print head could be damaged. It may also be a stubborn bit of dirt. Do you still have a cleaning sheet? If you go thro’ a cleaning routine with the sheet – it will ensure you at least have a clean head. If your print is just the same – I believe you will need a new head. If you’ve got 200 cartridges – it’s Free, but you pay for the labour or fit your own.
    Try cleaning first.
    😉 Regards Dave Standen

some times a clue as to whots happening is to unwind the ribbon a bit then you can see if the ribbon is out of alignment cos its printed so close to the edge.
just a note if you think you have to adjust the line feed from standard there is something else wrong 99.9% of the time.
the best head clean i have come up with is a black cart with the ribbon removed then print on to clean 100 gm uncoted smooth paper a 2 inch square.

I put a cleaning sheet in today but the print is still the same.
I done a test print with the line feed set at both ends of the scale and viewed the result under an eyeglass. You can see a definite single dot of the printhead has not printed. So it looks like the bank account will look a wee bit sorryer for itself very soon 😥

Unless anyone can tell me any different it looks like the printhead has gone. Well it is now 4 years old and has run 17000 meters through it and has never seen a printhead cleaning pen in its life. Is this good for a PC60 ??? 😮
