are you looking to buy one local or can you buy it from the uk. if so i can give you contacts.. maimly roland though.

what type of ribbons do you buy to run your machine?
if they are rolands own make & you have the empty/spent cartridges then you maybe entitled to a free print head. you need 200 old empty cartridges in return for print head 😉

    Hi Robert

    Thanks for your immediate reply.
I wish to buy it direct from the UK because I don’t believe it can be supplied locally. Also I use Apollo refill ribbons which I find quite good.

    Thanks again

    Hi

Replacement heads for the PC60 cost £175.00 + VAT

You can get them directly from Roland or one of their partners.

I would recommend that you send an email to matthew.drake@rolanddg.co.uk who is an extremely helpful chap, and will sort you out.

    Best Regards,

Changing the head yourself is not that difficult to do. However, there are some adjustments that need to be set up in the machine to match the new head. Without adjusting these settings you will not get the best performance out of the new head. I recommend you get professional help to do this for you. I recently changed the head on my PC600 myself but was amazed at the improvement in performance once the machine was properly set up by an experienced engineer.

    Hi Gino, Hi Folks
You’ll have to buy a head from Roland.

Send your postal address and I’ll send you the PC60 workshop manual. It will assist you with all the settings you need to make. The head will be issued to you with a floppy disc with all the print head set up software. This you download into the PC60 when you have installed the head.

The settings you will have to undertake are the mechanical settings you disturb by your print head installation.

You will also need to make adjustment to print head voltage.
You need a special tool to make this easier.

The adjustment is only a screwdriver turn – but you need to monitor the effect on a meter. The special tool makes this easy.
The print head comes with a label indicating what voltage to apply for best print results, and adjustment is easily accomplished

When you order the print head – also order
Head Voltage Adjustment Tool – ST-025
This is just a plug and lead that enables you to easily access the points you wish to monitor to see voltage adjustment.
You also need a multiMeter (volts)

The manual takes up through the proceedure step by step
I’ll send the manual 1st class – read a little before you order

    Best Regards

    Hi
I want to thank you all for the help you given me so far. Today I got in touch with Roland UK but I was told that the Print head is out of stock for another 2-3 weeks.
Does anyone know if there is another Printhead supplier in the UK apart from Roland or any other suggestions.
I appreciate all the help I can get.

    Thanks again
    Gino

The print head is out of stock!!!

Come on RolandDG!!! – I know you read these boards 😉 . How on earth can you be out of stock of a Colorcamm printhead?!!

This is very worrying – if you can’t keep a healthy stock of consumables like the printhead for a colorcamm (soon to be obsolete) why should anyone trust you to maintain back up for the new Versacamm (which many here are considering buying).

I bought my PC600 only 2 years ago ( it cost me 6 grand ) and now I am hearing that you don’t keep a stock of heads!!

Re-assure us please that you will continue to offer a backup for the equipment you sell!!

I had the same bother when i last changed my print head.. It was out of stock! The guy that installed it for me (same guy as you use now phill) had a spare one at home. He brought it in the morning after i called telling me my new head will be a week – 2 weeks. He installed his own and returned when my new one arrived and switched them. If he hadn’t my machine was idle for that time!
This was not Roland’s guy that they sent, but someone i have used for sometime now. I refuse point blank to deal with their Scottish machine technicians. I do not know, but I hope Roland have switched who they use these days, “from memory” EQUINOX the firm was called.. 👿

Its a shame really.. i have 3 roland machines and they have paid themselves many times over. but support in my mind is where things fall flat.

    Hi Folks – Hi Gino
By now you should have received the PC60 manual I’ve sent to you, if not it’s winging it’s way to you. Looks like you’re gonna have to look to the good old USA for a print head.
Check out www. colorwarehouse.com – they are a big distributor ….. or
    http://www.rolanddga.com – Roland USA
Send them an email explaning your problem – they should be able to help and airmail to you in Malta for some greenbacks.

Let us all know how you get on.
    Best Regards Dave Standen

    Hi Rob,

Gino has sent me a PM, asking me some questions about getting a head to him, but I cannot reply to him via PM (as this is disabled for my profile).

Could you give Gino my email address, so we can contact each other.

    Thanks Gino,

It was a bit fraught (as usual) before the big show. I’m glad we were able to be of service.

Please don’t hesitate to ask if you need any assistance when fitting the head, though it is not a particularly difficult task (when you have done it a few times !). Best advice I can give is to take it slow and follow the service notes Dave got you step by step.

You will also need a couple of small tie wraps, a set of very fine allen keys, and a digital multi-meter that can measure voltages to two decimal places.

    Happy printing,

    Best regards,

    Mike
