PC60 Cartridges
Posted by Alex Wilson on September 9, 2003 at 9:43 pmHi all
Not been about for a while but its nice to see things are still busy here!
After talking with Rob last year we bought a second hand PC60 which is now really earning its money and turning out some really good prints but i now have over 100 dead cartridges which i purchased mostly from Victory Design and they offered £15 per 100 which won’t buy me 2 new ones!! so what do people do with their old ones. And on a different note has anyone had any success with the white ribbons we cannot get it to stick to clear vinyl no matter how much we clean it.Any help greatly appreciated 😆

Why don’t you use refils much cheaper than new cartridges, I only own about 15 cartridges and always use refils. we get ours from Thermal Products, sorry don’t have their info to hand at the moment.
Do you know where to get the white ribbons, I would love to get hold of some.

There was a tale that if you saved a certain amount Roland would exchange for a new print head, so a Roland dealer told me, but I wouldn’t take his word for it, he doesn’t even know the specifications of the Cadlink Signlab product they’re also a dealer for.

We had a new head last year and Roland accepted a quantity of cartridges (can’t recall exactly how many) against the cost.
I seem to recall that 280 was the magic number for a new head.

You can get the white cartridges from Victory Design but be careful what you print on I tried it on europoints clear vinyl 571 series but it would not take. I did manage to get it to print on the new avery 700 series but i only had blue in stock so I am waiting for the clear to come in tomorrow. I will let you know how that goes! I must admit though the Roland cartridges on my machine are turning out some quality prints and with everyone slagging the Colorcamm for its banding problems I must have one of the good ones 😆 😆 😆

im sure its 200 catridges for print head..
we sent them back and got the head no probs…

yep – 200 it is.
I said in an earlier post regarding print heads that it was 100, but I was wrong.
100 was all I had at the time the engineer came to check out my print head probs – they sold me the new head (mine was scratched they said) at half the full price and took my 100 used cartridges.
I tried the Thermal Products ones but they kept breaking, and at the time (18 months ago) the cost from TP was not that much less than I pay for the Roland ones.
The chap at TP (who was very helpful I might add), said that the breakages were probably due to voltage differences accross the print head (I think 😕 )
Anyone with a PC600 tried the TP ones recently? (?)

Alan,
We buy our refills from Thermal Products, they usually run ok but we have had problems with breaks from time to time.I would like to keep a set of genuine Roland ones in stock for back up,who does the best price/service?

I only buy from thermal products and can thouroughly recommend them on quality. I pay about £6.00 per refill on average, depending on quantity ordered. I think Roland carts are about £12-£14, so you can see your savings strait away. 😀

Hi Alex
PC60 Cartridges:
You can save them up and when you have 200 – Roalnd will exchange for a new print head – you must pay for fitting and engineers time.
OR
You can trade them in for full cartridges with a UK company at a ratio of 10 empty cartridges gives you 1 new Black cartridge! So you could get 10 replacement Black cartridges for your empty cartridges!
WHO?
Ask Rob Lambie by PM – He knows the company. They’re very helpful.
WHITE:
Same company has a new ribbon formulation coming out in about 4 weeks including White, 6 Metallics and a big range of Spots with Quality equal to OEM

I tried a few “after market” tape brands for my PC600.
some colours worked, some colours wouldn`t print at all.
