    Postal Scam

With Christmas fast approaching, Royal Mail and the Trading Standards Office are making businesses aware of the following scam.

A card is received from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 661191(a premium rate number).

DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize. If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £315 for the phone call.

If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 020 7239 6655.

Although this particular variant is no longer used, it does serve as a reminder to not just dial unfamiliar numbers.

If you do receive a request to call a premium (090) number, you can check the origin of it using PhonepayPlus’ online number checker

    As Iain said,

    http://www.snopes.com/fraud/telephone/pds.asp

outdated scam report so absolutely no need to worry. 2006

    possible typo with the £315 / £15.

But in the UK the MOST you can be charged for any ’09’ non-geographic premium number is about 50p a minute.

    Dave 🙂
