  • Pantone to vinyl match please

Posted by Ewan Chrystal on April 4, 2013 at 12:48 am

    Hi all,

Hoping someone can help me here. I’m looking for vinyl to match these values

    Pantone 180cvu
    cmyk 0-85-90-35

is there a method i can use in the future to find the right vinyl when a customer specifies a pantone number?

    Thanks

    Ewan

Nothing close in Avery 700 or MacTac 9800. I think you may struggle with this one.
Not many vinyls are Pantone matched, and those that are, usually only have a
small selection. Best bet is to show the client a swatch and get them to pick the one
    they think is closest.

Thanks Jamie, i showed them the mactac 9800 swatch yesterday but like you say, nothing close. Out of interest, how do you compare the colours? Do you have a pantone swatch?

    Thanks again

Yes, we use Pantone swatch books. Best to try and colour match in daylight, as indoor
lighting can alter colours quite a lot.
