  • Panatrim Fascia Fixing Question

    Hi Everyone,

Ive been asked to do a shop sign for a new animal charity but to keep costs down they have asked if I can re-use the old sign.

Ive been to have a look and its a Panatrim type fascia, it only looks a couple years old and I think its very possible to re-use it. Normally I would just say no but as its a charity close to my wife and my heart I thought id give it a go.

The question I have is about fixings, ive never used Panatrim before as I normally steer the customer towards Pan fascias (personal preference). How are the Panatrims fastened to the wall? Ive been up on ladders and the only fixings I can see are a screw either side top and bottom, this doesnt seem alot to fasten a 14ft sign with, or are these the screws that hold the trim together?

Sorry to ask such a basic question of you all, but any help is greatly appreciated.

Paul, remove one end by taking out each screw top and bottom. One end is likely to be riveted so try the other end.
The end piece might need a clout with a mallet & chunk of wood to shift it.
Then the panels can be slid out one at a time. They might need unlocking from each other by lifting a panel within the frame to unhook it at the same time pulling it away from the next panel.
Then you will see the screws holding the frame to the wall. There’s no need to take the frame down, only the end piece.
Make the new panels exactly the same as the old ones.
If there is no room to slide a panel right out, slide the first panel along enough to detach from the next, then lift it right up against the top frame and angle the bottom towards you about 30 degrees to unhook the hanging strip at the top.
Best thing to use is a double sucker from screwfix or B & Q for about £6.00.
