• Painting cost advice

    Hi All

I am looking at a possible job that involves painting a shop fascia before any graphics are applied.

The existing wooden / ply panels appear sound and the size is 7m x 1m. It will have to be rubbed down, undercoated and glossed in a darker colour than at present.

My question is what would you expect to pay just for the prep & painting if it were sub contracted out or what would be a realistic price to charge if you were to do it.

The graphics side of it I can sort out.

    Thanks in advance

    Chris

depending on how busy you are, and if the weather is as good as it is up here just now, id give it a go myself. not hard to so, specially if its in as good a nik as you say?
charge it at about £30 an hour labour. buy a decent sander from B&Q not expensive… some undercoat, gloss etc some wood filler, paint rollers… etc and just get stuck in… couple of undercoats and sand, then some gloss coats..
the undercoats will be dry by the time you have got from one side to the other. just leave an hour or so and sand then paint it again…

Painter I use charges at around £15 an hour and includes materials. (may be lucky here). Charge out at around £30 an hour – prep and two undercoats in a morning, give it a day and finish off with a single gloss about another couple of hours.
