When I used to paint vinyl many moons ago I lacquered over it but I guess using a laminate would be as good if not better. I think I’d wet apply tho as you don’t want the paint lifting off the vinyl while positioning the laminate. Also, did you key the vinyl first, I would imagine you did.

I key it lightly And stuck a test piece on the car Not laminated to see how it works
    Looks ok up to yet

    Hi
Laminating painted vinyl can look like its got a load of bits under under it you are better off using a laquer

Since Autoair has a very low build and vinyl is quite thin, use a 3m p1000grit blending pad or mirka p1000grit soft hand pad or similar, to lightly scuff the vinyl, this will allow sufficient bite for modern clear coat to stick to without showing scratches through your autoair. once your airbrushing is done you can clear coat using medium solid (ms) clear that doesnt need thinner, usually ms clear coats are a 2:1 mix and quite thin, flexible and low build. Apply first a mist/grip coat followed by an nice full coat and allow to air dry. beware if you’re going to try single pack clear coat as some have a very high solvent level that may damage the vinyl. Hope this helps.
