I have recently bought a Pad printer, and would appreciate any advice or sources of information, eg clubs and forums.

I am planning to print mostly on glassware and ceramic mugs, although I would like to print onto plastic mugs as well.

    Many thanks.

    Hi Ivan,
I,ve got an old Morlock pad printer and use SERICOL for polydyne inks. This ink is single pack and goes onto most polypropylene & injection moulded polyolefin. Its pretty expensive. I get my plates direct from BASF along with the alcohol used when exposing. Again pretty expensive as you have to buy in bulk. These plates last for short runs but I have had some last for many 1000’s. If your machine is closed cup I don’t think these would be suitable and you might have to send away for your plates. For Glass and ceramics I would guess that you’ll have to use a 2 pack ink from the likes of COLENSO, I think they can do pads aswell. Another helpful source is GK MARKETING, they can supply pads, plates and ink. Contact 01543 414130 and ask for some brochures
Hope this is of use to you
    Cheers John

    Hi

    Thanks for the information.

Using Google, I found Kaye-Dee (Sheffield) and Creative Printing (London).

At least I now have some possible sources for consumables.

    Hi ivan,
The kaye dee site seems good, i’ve used the ruco inks before and another name springs to mind “Marabu Inks”. I’ve tried the water wash plates but didn’t have much success with them, the alcohol wash plates seem harder and less likely to scratch.
Hope you find what you are looking for
    Cheers John
