anyway.. few days ago i thought i had a wee glitch in my outlook. seems that there is a corrupt or missing file and it wont let me access. i have someone popping by later tonight to have a look at it for me, as its downloading but closing…
tried all the usual stuff, options etc.. even on phone to BT but still nothing..
fingers crossed for tonight as i get tons of mail and 3 days mail can pile up as you an imagine, then to loose it all.

if you have contacted me via my own account and i havent replied, please resend in 24hrs or so…

sorry for the inconvenience caused. 😕

🙁 Sorry to hear that Rob, if it is any consolation, I have had that problem twice, what happens is that your Outlook / Entourage database gets too big and locks up. Silly isn’t it? Let me know if the guy coming round is Bill Gates so we can choke him together then split the contents of his wallet!

I lost all my email (twice already) and that is irreplaceable.
Even when you ‘delete’ files, they are still stored in this ‘database’, any attachments you receive..are stored in this database, any attachments you send…are stored in this database..On a mac holding down the option key will enable you to rebuild the database, assuming it is not entirely corrupt.
If it is…dunno what to suggest

I hope it is not the same problem I haad, but if it is…I am very sorry.

A word of warning to other high volume, high file size users of Outlook. Back up and replace the database file. (this file is located in the Microsoft User Data folder on your hard drive, in Identities)
It will normally crash when it gets to 1GB to 2GB in size. Remember when you send and receive 5Mb+ attachments, they all add up in your SENT and INBOX, save attachment to your comp and delete the emails, then periodically rebuild the database

To purge deleted data etc, periodically rebuild the database file, by holding the alt/option key as you run Outlook.

    Hope this helps…

i havent as yet got into my mail, the guy called later to say can i waite till thursday.. not having much option i said yes.. 🙄
the only consilation i have is that i back-up all my email addresses and contacts etc with outlook backup. i have a couple of thousand entered with all details etc i lost them once before and thought never again.
even then i had paper copies, but reloading them all is a nightmare 😮

anyway.. im gonna take your advice on this too… only hope he can get in on thursday. :thumbup2:
