am having trouble with our pc-60… its a first for us using non roland spot colour so i’m having problems getting the printer to choose the cartridge. It works if i change the code to black, but its a fairly complex print job and it would make life a lot easier if i leave the original colours on screen.

I want to print ‘kelly green’ from the print one range using coreldraw9, i’ve tried setting the colour using cmyk (this works for me with roland spot colour) and RGB (never tried this with roland) but am having no luck.

Ended up getting very confused cause after giving up and deciding to use the black code i realised (after another 1/2 hour) that it wasn’t working because i was using backprint?? has anyone had this problem before?

Now im wondering if one of the things i tried earlier would work if i mirror the work instead of using backprint? i dont have time to test it tonight and the job needs completed tomorrow so any pointers on this would be very much apprecaited!!!

now theres a good long question for my first post eh???

    cheers people

The carts have bar codes on em and the printer will pick em up according to that. All you do is use the thing as normal , IE like you were using roland spots (in the graphic), but just put the odd colour ribbon in that cart or transfer the bar code.
Fo example if you were wanting to use kelly green , put the ribbon in a normal green cart or transfer the barcode if the aftermarket spots come in carts already and then in the graphic , use ordinary green for kelly green and print. If it’s kelly green in the green cart , thats what will print and the pc 60 will pick up the right cart.

    ok cheers rodney,

this is along the lines of how i wanted it all to work, i think this weird problem with ‘backprint’ may have stopped this from working earlier, i’ll try again in the morning with all the images reversed and see how i get on!

i really dont want to have to make everything a couple of colours and change barcodes, theres 16 pages of various spot colours to get printed, it confusing enough as it is!!!

    Hi Wallace
I think we spoke by telephone on Monday.
So how are going on mastering Spot Colour Printing on your PC60?

    Briefly for other PC60 users:
    Spot Colour Printing.
Assign RGB values (Red Blue Green) to your chosen spot colour in your graphics application. Ensure these values are then assigned to the spot colour in your printer driver. This procedure assigns that RGB value to the bar code you have decided to use. Always uncheck CMYK print mode. This tells the PC60 you’re printing colour – but in spot colour mode.
