Does anyone know how to order part rolls from spandex online without having multiple rolls sent. When I ask for 20 metres of something, I want 20 metres, not 10, 5 and 5. I try adding that I want a single roll but that gets ignored.

I gave up with Spandex a couple of years ago. even eith a note on my account to NOT SEND PART ROLLS, ie if ordering 10m, I want a 10m length, not a 5, 3 & 2m offcuts, especially on £25+ a mtr wrap films etc. They still did it and I was fed up with the amount of waste it produced.

The other reason I stopped using them was because they never kept my prices more than a couple of months after not buying them. I’d buy certain materials regularly (reflectives especially), although orders were typically a few months apart, I kept getting ridiculous bills for double what I’d paid just a couple of months prior. I had to double check every single invoice for over-charged items that I’d recently had set prices on.

I tent to use Adapt now for my oracal cut film, or William smith for avery equiv and most digi films.

      Easily sorted and completely understand

On the other side prices would increase if everyone needed this service in wrap as we would be left with multiple part rolls

      Make sense?

Once Leah left on Maternity, it all went to pot. Until then I rarely had an issue.

With respect, part rolls shouldn’t be my problem, by saying that you’re just passing on your own stock issues to me.

When I order 10/15/20m of wrap, I want a single piece as I’ve already calculated how much I need and rounded it up… By electing to send me bits of your choosing; I may not be able to wrap a side without a door in one piece.. I also end up with lots of small bits that are good for nothing but the bin, useless in the even that I need to re-do a section.

Typically I order my vinyls in 5m increments, even if I only need a mtr, I’d save those little bitty rolls for the guys who order ther itty bitty lengths that leave you with the odds in the first place.

I don’t know why I’m getting upset over it, I haven’t ordered from SPandex since a 15 or 20m order of reflective, destined to be printed, rocked up in three section, around 1/4 of that went in the bin due to how much lead and tail the printer requires!

    This is pretty simple

If you have an account manager it’s a simple no part rolls option

You could try the notes when ordering but probably better you get it setup ongoing

Any issues drop me an email @ bobby.mccormack@spandex.com

Same experience with Spandex, and like @Hugh-Potter I don’t use them.

When I order 25m of black vinyl to keep as stock, I don’t want in 3 rolls. Like spandex don’t want it lying around their warehouse, I don’t really want it lying around mine either.

Perhaps we take for granted all the other suppliers who don’t sent split rolls, OR if they do will check it’s OK. I’ve taken roll ends off suppliers in the past, if I needed 10m, and they had 12 on a roll end, they’ll usually do a deal on the 12m.

    We avoid as well.

Sent wrong colour once. Was told It couldn’t be returned or credited as it was an over the phone order.

Getting our card to work with them is a nightmare. It’s 20 minutes of faffing about. Every other supplier has no issue at all. Bizarre. First time I paid by BACs for an eye opener as well. Mad flat out, already lost 20 minutes to half an hour of my day with card issue. Log in. Set them up. Pay the invoice total. Get a phone call an hour later to say there’s no VAT on it… apparently I was ment to add that on.

We stick to William smiths and victory now. Very good relationship with both. Nothings a problem. If something turns out to be a part roll I get a phone call to ask if that is ok. Sometimes even a discount for them. It’s a shame. I don’t like slagging people off but spandex will always blow my mind, especially given the size and others talk so highly.

Sounds like a similar issue I had with Antalis, and few others of the larger suppliers. No interest is dealing with us, and seems quite happy for us to go elsewhere.

In comparison I needed to order 5 small sheets of material the other day for a specific job. The total order value was ~£10.00.
My sales rep understanably couldn’t really justify such a small order, and I didn’t need anything else at the time. I offered to collect and it was “explained” as some paid for samples.

What the rep probably didn’t know is, that those sheets, once printed and converted into the finished product was a £350+ sale for us. (It’s a bit of a bizzare job we do!) and I genuinely really appreciate their assistance.

I’ve two on the doorstep, and I use the one who doesn’t have the computer says no attitude, or changes policies etc every time you call up. Yep they’ve made mistakes in the past, but each time they’ve resolved it without issue. It’s a hard sell for any rep who walks through our door.

set up an account with spandex in November as they had part rolls in stock of an item we couldnt get else where ..however the rep called and was going to do some pricing on items of what we use and get back to us ..told him no rush we are going on holiday for a week ..never had an email since etc ..lost lots of potential orders so we just stuck with what we know now
