  • Ordered a new lamminator

Posted by John Thomson on May 11, 2014 at 6:02 pm

I have been using a 1300mm hand operated lamminator for ages…………been considering upgrading to a 1600mm hot/cold machine.

As I have imported sign equipment from China in the past of course that is where I was looking.

At Sign Uk this year one company was displaying a Chinese 1600mm machine……..so having seen one in the flesh I decided to go ahead.

It is a generic lamminator manufactured by many companies and after a few emails I decided on this one.

As soon as I gave the go ahead to be invoiced I was phoned by my contact at the company………..as soon as I paid ( Paypal) I was called again to confirm payment was received.

So in a week or so it should be on a ship heading to Liverpool then I shall have it shipped up to Scotland 😀

The had operated one has served well………but time to move up to something more suited to large prints……….I have lost count of the number of re prints I have had to do when lamination went wrong!

Is the hand operated one any good for flood coating boards?

We’ve got an Easy Mount 1600, and occasionally still have to do re-prints.

It’s still a million times better than the old ‘Polar Signs’ we had.

I recently bought the adl 1600h and apart from a faulty control panel I have been pleased with it. My only gripe is I bought it to laminate 1600 wide media but to get 1600 wide on the machine is a battle as there is no room to spare! Other than that it seems a nice bit of kit so far

Watching this thread with interest, seen a few of these Chinese laminators and would be interested in how you get on with it.

The same machine as Grafityp supply, saw them at Ipex and thought it was a good bit of kit for the money.

The ADL range have been a little hit and miss, by this I mean we ordered 8 of the 1600C and 8 of the 1600 H1, the 1600C have had mechanical issues which are been resolved by ADL and without question or hesitation on their behalf.

The 1600 H1 however have apart from one faulty control panel been a huge hit and now we are just waiting for our next shipment of 21 units to arrive.

Shipping? $80 US from the factory to Shanghai…………..free from Shanghai to Liverpool as it was built into the price.

My lamminator arrived in Shanghai on schedule and is now on a ship to Liverpool.

next thing should be contact from the UK shipping agent in a couple of weeks with a bill for port fees, customs clearance, import tax, vat and the cost of getting it delivered to my door.

Ship is due to dock today 🙂

Shipping agents have been in touch to confirm my EORI ( import number) and invoice me with all the port and customs fees, tax, vat etc….

They are dealing with transporting it from the port it to me on a tail lift truck as the carton weighs in at 230kg.

    nice.

how much did you save shipping from china.

we all like to save money on kit, but sometimes the deal can be a pitfall of bad things.

perhaps be a good idea, creating a data base of good kit suppliers in china.

Meant to update this ages ago……….

Took four of us to lift it onto the stand and everything is working fine 😀

Did you get an engineer in to calibrate the rollers?
