Optima Bold, Heavy version?
Posted by Hugh Potter on July 7, 2020 at 3:40 pmHi all,
I’ve got some lettering to be done for an honours board, I was told optima bold but they’ve just come in and said it was a little light last year, Is there anything the same but a shade heavier? It’s hard to take a photo as it’s for an old school brushie (retired) who’s brought me in a brass rubbing!
Thanks in advance
Hugh

does signlab not have a family of Optima under “Optic”?
that’s assuming you use Signlab! -

Hi Rob,
last year he just said optima bold, so I did, but it looks like one of them is very very bold! Much as per Kevins post.
ps. don’t use signlab.

There is a much heavier one than both of those, I’ll post a picture shortly when I get home

I think it’s a mix.. from his rubbing there’s a very heavy and a regular bold, like the lower two on your image. What are those two called please?

How about simply putting an outline around the text, I’ve done this a few times now to get the thickness right.

@gordon-smithard One of my old favourite tricks!
I tend to still do this with certain script fonts that I like, but look far to slim… so beej them up slightly with an outline.

Sometimes use this site http://www.identifont.com/find?similar=optima&q=Go
gives alternatives on the same theme and style of font.
