OPENING SECOND BRANCH

I only run the one branch so I am not qualified to offer any advice, but I would like to wish you all the best in your expansion plans and would be interested to hear how it develops for you.

I have always thought it would be difficult to scale up a sign making like the one I have and the advice I have often heard is to “keep it small”. However I do believe a series of branches operating independantly in the same way as the original business could be made to work as long as you have the right people (that are well motivated) running it.

we actually had something along those lines Adrian..
too much to go into & you know how i rabble on and still miss the point 😳 :lol1:

anyway, as you will know, keeping track of everything going out the door when your not there can be a problem. (if you know what i mean :wink:)
i know with the best will in the world we would like to think it full proof. but it happens.
a simple tip is get your cutter comp in the new location rigged with a stealth software for recording keyboard activity. OK OK i know.. a bit extreme, but you it is very handy if the need ever arises that your suspicion gets the better of you.
with a couple of clicks of your keyboard you can print of a day to day keyboard log of ever single bit of activity. times, dates, what was typed etc etc
now i don’t mean you go in checking every day. this can be done remotely now. (not when i had it, but it is available now) anyway.. from your office you can check what has been getting cut on your plotter. is it the van thats due in, or is it a homer? 😕

This is legal for businesses to do. when i installed it i just told the guys running the comp it was installed and they can search hi and low for it.. only your code will bring it up. this stops the fun & games before they start& you can get on with making a living.

Thanks for the quick replies, i understand Robert were you are coming from, the package i have offered is a generous basic plus profit related bonus, with the option to shares in this branch 24 months down the line, but i do agree that close control will be my biggest headache, spoken to one my large clients who runs a electrical and security business and he is talking about a live link monitoring system run through broadband, this is big brother………………… ! 🙄 , i am having a night out at the weekend with the prospective manager and his wife to bash a few things out… keep you informed on the progress

PS did you ever get that job in Glasgow i sent you….. and could you send me the video links of the demos, when i get 5 mins i will have a watch

i agree with your method, the incentive to keep things running smooth/properly & also “growing it” is the right way to go..
at the end of the day, you have to rely on someone to do your job & there is always going to be a certain amount of loss.. the pain is just keeping yourself covered and keeping that loss to a minimum.

we moved various signs to their new depot and made a new larger one also. like you said, good payers too… guy seemed very happy and all is done and dusted. 😀
