reminds me of our Scottish rugby try outs…..
great team we had at school… ugly vicious looking blokes. missing ears and more. the coach says rob, your in mate…. 😮
i could see me running up the middle of the pitch knocking these monsters out the way. watching them squirm in agony at the force of my breakthrough….
calmly i said good choice coach, was it the ferocious speed i hurtle towards the guys that caught your eye?
he said…. “nah mate, but i recon if we are all in a scrum, you will be perfect to run out from under everyone, or between some legs 😮cheeky beggar,,,,

I’m a Aussie Rules Fan myself (up the mighty LIONS), having said that The qlders are playing in qld, in front of qlders, for qlders.
The blues tho, may not have andrew johns on the field. If that is the case, it will be no contest, and I almost feel sorry for the blues supporters (I said ALMOST). But, if johns IS playing, I think it is afair bet we will be slaughtered, and I will deny any knowledge of the game at all.
As far as sending you 10 quid, if I have money in my pockets, the wife has left it there for a reason, usually so I can buy her tea 😥
What about the cricket tho.
The general consensis here is that you lot can have warny when he retires, we’ll keep his missus.

I know it’s completely unAustralian but I cannot see the point in getting completely consumed by whether one State is going to win or lose. Different countries – fair enough.
I watched the Australia vs France Rugby Union last night. Now there was a game.
Took me back to my childhood watching the Rugby Union Internationals at Murrayfield, 1/4 bottle of Whisky down the front of my trousers, the roar of the crowd, the craic. All good stuff.
Fredthelad – by the time I send you 10 squid, what with inflation, taxes and the exchange rate you’d get about 25p.

I tend to agree Scozzie.
Really see nothing helpful in state against state. Especially when some people take it so damn seriously.
Reminds me of my two neighbours a few years ago – one from manchester, one from liverpool.
When it came time for the two teams to play ‘back home’, they would not talk to each other at all, got rather nasty actually, found myself the go-between more than once, yet other times they were great mates.
Hate to think that we would get that ‘silly’ here.
And with the qlders being called ‘cane toads’ – a national pest that everyone wants to see exterminated because it is killing our native wildlife, and nsw called ‘cockroaches’, a filthy disgussing pest, it is not really something you’d normally like to be associated with… is it?
Cheers

Well for me the State of Origin series are the best games of Rugby League you will ever see. The teams are always up for it and well commited.
They may well be team-mates but thats what makes the difference, plus they are all playing for a starting jersey in the internationals.
We have something similar over here, Yorkshire v Lancashire but it just doesn’t have the same bite.

We get it through Sky Sports. I think they are an affiliate.
We get to see 3 or 4 Aussie games a week
